Summit is proud to be a partner of The Aidan Project !

The Aidan Project is a local 501(c) (3) organization that strives to provide access to early intervention therapy services for children with developmental delays. They connect families that do not qualify for state-funded early intervention with local clinics like ours, Summit Center For Child Development | ABA Therapy , and also specialize in services such as speech, physical and occupational therapy.

We have seen firsthand the progress and growth that their scholarships have made possible, and the amazing impact they have on families right here in Kansas City. We’re so thankful for their advocacy and all the resources they provide to our community 💛

Visit The Aidan Project today to see their current impact by the numbers and to learn more about their mission and available support.

Autistic perspectives bring something new, thoughtful, and important to the world—and when we slow down and truly listen, there’s so much to learn.

Here’s to celebrating all the little things that make each person wonderfully, completely them.

This week, we’re celebrating 15 years of Lynn! 🎉

Lynn brings something special to Summit—steady, strong leadership paired with an energy that lights up every room. She’s the one people naturally gather around, the one who keeps things moving forward, and somehow still makes it all more fun along the way.

Thank you for 15 incredible years of showing up, lifting up others, and being a true pillar of Summit. We’re so lucky to celebrate you 💛

April is Autism Acceptance Month!

We’re celebrating the amazing autistic individuals we get to support every day at Summit—and the many ways they see, experience, and move through the world. This month is a reminder to honor each person for who they are, meeting them with understanding, encouragement, and respect every step of the way.

We’re so grateful to learn, grow, and celebrate alongside our autistic learners, their families, and our community, not only during the month of April, but each and every day 💛

A quick look around Summit as winter came to a close! We are looking forward to warmer days and spending more time outside and in the community with all of our learners 🤩☀️🌷

At Summit, the difference we make shows up in real, everyday moments—first words, smoother transitions, growing independence, and skills that truly stick.

It’s the small steps, the breakthroughs, and the consistency in between that add up to something really meaningful. We feel so lucky and truly grateful to be part of that process alongside the individuals and families we support, every single day 💛

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, a time to recognize the contributions of people with developmental disabilities and to highlight the importance of inclusion in our schools, workplaces, and communities.

At Summit, we’re proud to support learners and families every day as they build skills, confidence, and meaningful connections. We’re grateful to be part of a community that believes every person deserves the opportunity to learn, belong, and thrive.

This month, we invite our community to take part by learning more, making space for different ways of communicating and learning, and helping create environments where everyone is welcomed and valued 💛

We’re cheering on one of our own! 🎉

Our SAC East Director, Lynn, has been nominated for Prom Queen as part of ‘s upcoming 80’s themed Capture the Future Gala fundraiser.

Each year, this event raises vital funding for programs that help youth and young adults prepare for the workplace, support independent living, create employment opportunities, and build meaningful community connections—helping create a more inclusive future.

If you’d like to support Lynn (and a great cause!), visit the Summit Future Foundation page to learn more about the event and how to cast your vote.

We’re back with another ABA Myth vs. Fact!

ABA is often associated with early intervention—and while early support can be incredibly impactful, ABA strategies can support individuals across the lifespan. Teens and adults may work on things like building independence, strengthening communication, navigating social situations, or developing daily living skills that make everyday routines easier.

Like many areas of support, the goals simply evolve as the individual grows 🌱

If you’re curious about how ABA services can support your child or student, we’d love to connect. Send us a DM or visit www.summitaba.com to learn more

Happy National Read Across America Day! 📚

Today we’re celebrating the magic of books — and the many ways reading helps children grow. Reading builds language, strengthens comprehension, supports social-emotional development, and sparks imagination. It’s one of the simplest (and most powerful) ways to support learning at every age.

Reading aloud to children is especially impactful. Hearing rich vocabulary, expressive language, and storytelling helps build listening skills, attention, and connection. It’s also a beautiful way to slow down and share meaningful time together.

And here’s the best part: all forms of reading count.

Picture books. Board books. Graphic novels. Audiobooks. Looking through pages and talking about the pictures. Even a pre-reader flipping through a favorite story and “reading” it from memory is building early literacy skills. However your family reads — keep going. Every page matters. 💛
