📢 Time for a new journey! 🌟
Dear Friends and Supporters,
After nearly two decades of working as a psychologist at University Health, it's with mixed emotions that I announce my departure. It has been an incredible journey filled with meaningful connections and the privilege of helping so many individuals on their paths to healing.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to the amazing team at University Health and to all the patients and families I've had the honor of working with. Your trust and resilience have inspired me every day.
The beginning of 2023 I began slowly building this little dream hoping I’d be able to do this full time. Starting September 1st, I have transitioned to a private practice @ the Westport growth Center. This move allows me to continue providing the same level of care, but in a more intimate and personalized setting.
I am excited about this new chapter and the opportunity to work with you all in a different capacity. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment.

Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to our journey ahead! 🌱✨

There are many reasons why people
avoid seeking therapy and begin their healing journey. Even though therapy is intended to be a safe and confidential space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment, starting the process can feel scary for a number of reasons.
Many of the reasons for avoiding therapy can be categorized into three main groups: resource restrictions, fear, and preconceived beliefs.
All the reasons for hesitation are valid and we hope to address some of these barriers and share some ways to start challenging them and offer feasible solutions. Seeking therapy is a courageous step towards taking care of your mental health.

Are you feeling emotionally numb? It's important to know that you're not alone. Many people struggle with feeling disconnected from their emotions at times, but there are ways to work through it. Here are a few tips:

Identify the root cause: Try to pinpoint the root cause of your emotional numbness. Is it related to a specific event or situation? Once you identify the cause, you can begin to work through it.
Express yourself: Even if you don't feel like it, try to express yourself through writing, art, or talking to someone you trust. This can help you reconnect with your emotions.
Practice mindfulness: Mindfulness exercises such as deep breathing, meditation, and yoga can help you become more present in the moment and reconnect with your emotions.
Seek professional help: If you're struggling with emotional numbness, it may be helpful to seek the support of a mental health professional. They can provide guidance and support to help you work through your feelings.
Remember, it's okay to not be okay. It takes time and effort to work through emotional numbness, but with the right tools and support, you can regain a sense of emotional connection and well-being.

Detachment is often misunderstood as being emotionally aloof or distant, but it's actually a powerful tool for finding peace and happiness in life. When we detach from outcomes and desires, we're able to let go of expectations and embrace the present moment.

The laws of detachment state that we should let go of our attachment to outcomes and desires, and instead focus on the process and journey. By doing so, we open ourselves up to new opportunities and experiences, and we're better able to appreciate the present moment.

Detachment doesn't mean giving up on our goals or aspirations, but rather approaching them with a sense of detachment and equanimity. By doing so, we're able to stay focused and motivated, but without being held back by fear or anxiety.

So if you're feeling stressed or overwhelmed by the pressures of daily life, I encourage you to practice the laws of detachment. Focus on the journey, let go of your attachment to outcomes, and embrace the present moment. You might be surprised at the peace and happiness that you find. #816

As a psychologist, I often come across people struggling with letting go of things that no longer serve them. That's where the laws of detachment come in!

Here are some of the key principles of detachment that can help you live a more peaceful and fulfilling life:

Everything is temporary: Remember that everything in life is impermanent, including our thoughts, emotions, and situations. Accepting this fact can help us detach from things that are causing us pain or discomfort.
Focus on the present moment: Instead of dwelling on the past or worrying about the future, try to focus on the present moment. This can help you let go of things that are out of your control and appreciate the beauty of the here and now.
Let go of expectations: We often cling to expectations about how things should be, which can lead to disappointment and frustration. Instead, try to let go of these expectations and accept things as they are.
Practice non-attachment: Non-attachment means being unattached to outcomes and not letting them define your worth or happiness. When we practice non-attachment, we can approach life with a sense of curiosity and openness, rather than anxiety or fear.
Remember, detachment is not about disconnecting from the world or other people, but rather about letting go of our attachments and living more freely. If you're struggling with detachment, know that it's a process and it takes time. Be patient and kind to yourself along the way. #816
