Today, we brought together volunteers from our amazing CMN fundraising partners for a special blanket-making day! 💛 Thanks to a generous grant from Aflac, we were able to provide all the materials needed to make cozy blankets for pediatric proton therapy patients at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Proton therapy treatments can be long and take place in cool rooms, so each blanket brings warmth, comfort, and a little extra joy to children undergoing care. Thank you to everyone who helped make this day so meaningful. 🫶

From studying Chinese Art History to leading the region’s only inpatient child psychiatry hospital, Dr. Douglass’s path to medicine is anything but ordinary.

Now Medical Director at Marillac and a passionate advocate for youth mental health, he blends his background in art with his work in medicine—teaching young doctors how to see the whole picture when caring for patients.

His compassion, leadership, and dedication continue to shape brighter futures for kids across Kansas City and beyond. 💛
