Round of applause for Alexus, Behavior Health Technician, for being nominated for Kindness Changes Lives! 💚 Here’s what a coworker had to say about her:

"I wanted to nominate Alexus because she was recognized by one of the youth she serves on campus for her kind heart and hard work. Alexus spends her shifts not only ensuring the youth she serves are safe, but by bringing joy to them. She has spent her own resources to find decor that is calming and safe for our older girl's cottage here at the Springfield campus. She does this for all the holidays too. It's appreciated by our staff and more importantly the children we serve. Thank you for showing up with great compassion Alexus—we see you!”

✨ Keep spreading the kindness by congratulating Alexus below!

Social work is equal parts precision and compassion. Organized, detail-oriented and deeply human, much of the work happens behind the scenes, but every form, every visit, every moment of care makes a difference in a child’s life. 💫

Congratulations to Drew, Foster Care Case Manager, for being nominated for Kindness Changes Lives! 💚 Here’s what a coworker had to say:

"Several months ago, while on call during a disruption, Drew met a youth in care who was going through a difficult moment. Drew’s calming presence, empathy and willingness to show up made an impression that clearly lasted because recently, that same youth made a special request—she wanted Drew to be the one to take her shopping for her birthday. Without hesitation, Drew said yes. She spent the day in Springfield—away from the office and her typical responsibilities to make sure the client felt celebrated and valued. From a fresh haircut, to shopping and sharing lunch together, Drew gave the gift of time, attention and care. Sometimes, that’s the gift that matters most. Even for youth she does not directly case manage, Drew continually shows up with heart. She is a bright spot in our work and a fierce advocate for all children and families. Her kindness in this moment is just one example of the compassion and commitment she brings every day. Thank you, Drew, for being a shining example of what it means to lead with empathy. Your kindness truly matters and it inspires us all.”

Supporting youth with compassionate, healing treatment.

For communities to prosper, all children must have the opportunity to develop healthy brains. We support youth in their development by providing compassionate treatment for those who are experiencing depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, the impacts of childhood trauma, and other behavioral and/or mental health challenges. Through our residential treatment program and day treatment services, youth receive therapeutically enriched educational services, coping skills, and emotion regulation techniques that help them develop healthy interactions and behaviors.
