Pulse Design Group was honored to host two facility tours to showcase our design work during the 2025 Healthcare Design Expo & Conference in Kansas City.

The University of Kansas Health System Quivira Campus is a 70,000 SF medical office building that was redesigned mid-construction following a merger of two health systems: The University of Kansas Health System and Olathe Health. Conference attendees learned how the design was able to quickly adapt the program, maintain construction progress, and align the facility with the joint health system’s goals. Special thank you to the tour guides Matt Meier, Alli Hill, Ross Netzel, Justin Brummer, Nick Findley, and Anish Patel.

The University of Kansas Health System Emergency Department Expansion tour offered conference attendees an inside look at a 49,900 SF addition and renovation that enhanced system capacity and efficiency while maintaining uninterrupted patient care. The tour highlighted strategies that allowed construction to take place in a fully operational emergency department, ensuring safety and continuity throughout the process. Special thank you to the tour guides Michael Andracsek, Christian Lee, Michelle Wineinger, and Daniel Rezin.

Thank you to our project partners at JE Dunn Construction, Turner Construction Company, Brack & Associates, P.A., for assisting with the tours, and The University of Kansas Health System and NV5 for the opportunity to share healthcare design practices with a national audience.

Pulse Design Group is honored to be presenting at the 2025 Healthcare Design Conference & Expo. As the healthcare industry evolves, design plays a critical role in helping organizations adapt to change, respond to new models of care, and create environments that support patients, providers, and communities. This year, our team will share three sessions that reflect the expertise, collaboration, and impact of our projects:

E03: Adapt and Deliver: Managing Ownership Transitions in Healthcare Facility Design, featuring speakers Chris Ruder and Jason Hannagan with The University of Kansas Health System

E13: Reimagining the Future of Behavioral Healthcare: Designing the First Kansas State Mental Health Hospital in 50 Years, featuring speaker Adam Crocker with the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services

E93: Designing the Future of Care: A Simulation Hospital for Training Tomorrow’s Healthcare Professionals, featuring Lisa Toms with Missouri Southern State University

Each of these sessions demonstrates how thoughtful design, expert planning, and strong partnerships can meet today’s challenges while preparing healthcare facilities for the future. We are grateful to our clients and partners for joining us in telling these stories, and we look forward to the conversations ahead. We hope to see you there.
