ENT professionals headed to DC last month to advocate for came together to advocate for patients, highlighting the importance of hearing health, early detection and access to care. Legislative priorities included universal newborn screenings for congenital cytomegalovirus (cCMV, the leading non-genetic cause of hearing loss) and Medicare reimbursements that help protect patients' access to specialists.

Surgeons from across the country will gather on Capitol Hill on March 11 for the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS) Congressional Advocacy Day, engaging lawmakers on a slate of legislative priorities centered on protecting patients and ensuring access to high-qualit...

From American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA):

"Did you know that early language difficulties can lead to later literacy challenges? SLPs can help. Research shows that school-based SLPs working within Response to Intervention (RTI) frameworks can prevent students from falling behind. By collaborating with fellow educators, SLPs help ensure every student has the tools to succeed. Because representation matters, we applaud this effort to raise awareness about the lack of hearing‑loss imagery in mainstream media. By expanding the library of free photographs featuring people wearing hearing aids, we hope the stigma surrounding these assistive devices will continue to diminish, encouraging more people to embrace safe hearing health care. This effort also helps organizations like HAP tell important stories without compromising individuals' health privacy.

To mark World Hearing Day, GN, a global leader in hearing solutions is seeking to end the "media invisibility" surrounding hearing loss by launching an expanded diverse library of images representing people living with hearing loss. New global research reveals a striking lack of everyday representat...

Conversation isn’t just about hearing words—it’s about connection, timing, and understanding. New research shows that people with hearing loss often work extra hard to keep up, relying on context and prediction to follow conversations. While it may look effortless on the outside, it can take significant mental energy, and over time, that effort can be exhausting!

We hear it all the time from our members and those we serve. These experiences are real and they matter. Sertoma and HAP believe everyone deserves to participate in the things and moments that connect us. That’s why we’re committed to raising awareness and helping people stay engaged in the conversations that shape our lives.

"Ultimately, the bond of all companionship, whether in marriage or friendship, is conversation," wrote Oscar Wilde.
