🍼 Pacifier Weaning: When & Why It Matters

Pacifiers can be a helpful soothing tool in infancy — and they’re even associated with a reduced risk of SIDS in the early months.

✨ General guideline:
✔️ Start weaning between 6–12 months
✔️ Aim to eliminate pacifier use by 12–18 months

Why? Because prolonged pacifier use can impact:

• Jaw + palate growth
• Tooth alignment (open bite)
• Tongue posture + swallowing patterns
• Speech sound development (less babbling/talking practice)

💡 If your child is over 12 months, don’t panic — just start limiting use to sleep only and work toward a gradual fade.

I believe communication is a powerful tool, and I strive to create a supportive, encouraging environment where clients feel understood, empowered, and celebrated throughout their journey.

Tauke Speech Therapy LLC went on clinic tour this am, at Success on the Spectrums newest location! We already loved their Lees Summit location, and were eagerly waiting this addition up north in Pleasant Valley, MO!!

Throughout the tour we saw their customized gymnasium (our favorite!!) sensory rooms, social rooms, and individual treatment rooms! We met with the owner, and their BCBA and left fully confident in adding another resource to our resource list for our families 🙂
