Big news for injury prevention in our community! 🚗📰 The Research Foundation’s injury prevention program, ThinkFirst of Greater Kansas City, has been honored with the People Saving People Award from the Kansas Department of Transportation and Drive Safe Kansas!

Presented at the 2026 Transportation Safety Conference in Manhattan, Kansas, this award recognizes the incredible impact of our Voices for Injury Prevention (VIP) speakers and moderators—individuals who courageously share their real-life experiences with brain and spinal cord injuries to help young people make safer choices behind the wheel. This recognition comes at a critical time, as teen driver crashes remain a serious concern. Programs like ThinkFirst are helping change that—one story, one student, one safer decision at a time.

The Research Foundation was proud to bring ThinkFirst of Greater Kansas City to Lee's Summit West High School! Students gathered to hear a powerful, real-life story about the impact of injury and the importance of making safe choices. In honor of Medical Laboratory Professionals Week, we’re proud to highlight an exciting milestone in supporting the next generation of lab professionals! 🧪The Research Foundation has awarded its first Medical Laboratory Science Scholarships to three Kansas City area students completing hospital-based clinical rotations.

Congratulations to recipients:
• Graham Blackwood (KU School of Health Professions)
• Hannah Flynn (NKC Health)
• Chloe Strong (Rockhurst University)

The scholarship, established by Board of Directors member Lucia Johnson, helps address the critical shortage of laboratory professionals while encouraging students to launch their careers right here in the Kansas City region.

We’re grateful for the vital work medical lab professionals do every day—often behind the scenes but essential to every diagnosis, treatment, and patient outcome. 💚

From innovative learning environments to expanded academic programs, it was an exciting look at how the future of nursing education is taking shape right here in Kansas City.

Since joining The Research Foundation in 1996, Rose has played a vital role in our growth and success. Her exceptional leadership has helped advance our award-winning injury prevention programs, surpass million-dollar fundraising milestones, and build a strong, sustainable donor stewardship framework. In her new role, she will oversee fundraising strategy, donor relations, and programmatic impact, while mentoring staff across fundraising, programs, and marketing.

A great day of learning and collaboration! 🫀📚 The Research Foundation proudly hosted the Practical Cardiology Symposium for Primary Care Providers in partnership with Research Medical Center. Held at the beautiful new campus of Research College of Nursing, the event brought together health care professionals from across the region to strengthen their knowledge and enhance patient care.

It was an inspiring day focused on advancing cardiovascular care in our community. Thank you to all who attended and helped make this event a success—we loved seeing so many engaged faces!
