Our 390-bed medical center in Kansas City, Missouri, serves pediatric patients from a 150-county area spanning both Missouri and Kansas.

When life blitzed Grady the night before his dream, he didn’t fumble — he fought back.

The 14-year-old fell and broke his hip the night before he was supposed to have his wish with Make-A-Wish Missouri & Kansas granted — to play catch with Patrick Mahomes. After emergency surgery at Children’s Mercy, Grady got an encouraging video message from The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback: “Know that the Chiefs and me are behind you. We’re supporting you!”

After several weeks of hard work at recovery, Grady’s dream came true: he slung spirals and chatted with Mahomes at the 15 and Mahomies gala.

Now Grady is returning the favor with some solid advice for Mahomes during the QB's recovery from a torn ACL: “Don’t doubt yourself! I had an injury kind of like yours, and I came back stronger than ever — you can, too.”

Not a creature was stirring - except our puppy pals.

We 🩷 our sweet pup Patsy! She’s been a paw-fect part of the dialysis and behavioral health teams for 1 year now. 🐾

Studies show that facility dogs like Patsy can lower stress and anxiety and increase well-being for kids in the hospital. We’re so thankful for our amazing team of pups (and their humans) who bring joy to our patients each day. 🐕

Night Lights, shining bright… ✨🚨✨

Winter lights remind us that we are never walking through a dark time alone. Thank you to our first responder friends who are always ready to help when we need them – even if it’s just by shining their lights for families at the hospital to see at our 4th annual Night Lights parade.

This story is Wicked good! ✨ When plans changed for Emily and she missed seeing Wicked: For Good in theaters, Children’s Mercy stepped in to make magic happen. Thanks to our Patient and Family Programs team, Lollipop Theater Network, Comcast and NBCUniversal, Emily and other patients enjoyed a private screening—complete with a yellow brick road carpet, exclusive Oz merch and a festive pre-movie party.

Emily’s mom shared, “Children’s Mercy goes out of their way to make kids happy. She’s had a rough couple of days, so thank you for making her smile.” Moments like these remind us why we do what we do—bring joy and a sense of normalcy to kids and families when it matters most.

We’re proud to be the first pediatric hospital to host this special event, with more screenings planned nationwide. Huge thanks to our partners and teams for helping our patients feel like they can defy gravity!

✨ Deck the halls and light up the night! 🚓🚒 We’re so excited to be bringing back the annual First Responders Holiday Light Show with our friends at Kansas City Missouri Police Department, Kansas City Fire Department and Jackson County Sheriff's Office tonight, Dec. 17 from 5:30 to 6 p.m. at our Adele Hall Campus in Kansas City, Mo. Today our panes got more than a polish—they got a super upgrade. 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️
Seeing heroes hang on the hospital brings laughs, wide eyes and a little extra courage to our patients. It’s one more way our experience is made for kids, from the expert care inside to the small surprises that brighten their day.
