Diverse donors 🌍 + blood drives 🩸 = a perfect match for kids! 💞
Kids who are diagnosed with sickle cell disease need regular blood transfusions, and having donors from many backgrounds helps ensure better matches for patients.
Today, we celebrated Sheena Anderson, who was this year’s Community Blood Center Dr. Charles Drew Lifesaver Award recipient. Dr. Drew was an African American who is considered the father of modern blood banking.
Sheena’s son Bam receives care at Children’s Mercy for sickle cell disease. Together, they are increasing awareness and blood donation within Black and Brown communities across the region.
Congratulations, Sheena! Honor her work by finding a Community Blood Center donation location near you: https://cmkc.link/4cevv5k
