When our community shows up for our patients and families, hope grows. 💙

Thank you to Northwestern Mutual’s Leawood Office and the Northwestern Mutual Foundation for selecting Children’s Mercy for an oncology research grant.

It’s draft day! 🏈 No matter who’ve you got for your top NFL players this year, families say we’re the #1 pick when it comes to caring for our region's kids.

Time and again, Children’s Mercy ranks among the top hospitals in many different specialties. Our goalposts are clear: we strive to bring elite-level care to every child who walks through our doors.

As we watch to see who goes where (and what they wear!) this weekend, our team members will continue their committed work for kids. 💙💛

With hearts full of hope and creativity on display, our patients showed the Earth some extra-special care today. 🌎💙

Bearing goodies, crafts and a message so clear, kids felt the kindness from our Good Cheer volunteers.

Abagale and Augustus crafted Lorax pots with ease, made with yellow mustaches, googly eyes and 3 Truffula trees.

Oh, there’s no limit to the places these kids’ imaginations will go! Just ask our team, and their parents – they know!

With markers, glue and a few precious giggles, Isaac and Maliyah colored “Be Kind” signs with a little wiggle and squiggle.

It was a day for bright smiles and caring a bunch, for our planet and our patients – we love them so much!

She was no bigger than a loaf of bread — but Katelynn’s strength was already undeniable. 💙

Katelynn’s journey with Children’s Mercy began before she was even born. When her parents, Kim and Chris, learned something wasn’t right with her heart, the Wichita family was suddenly facing long drives, countless appointments and life‑changing decisions.

Through our Elizabeth J. Ferrell Fetal Health Center, Katelynn received highly specialized care from the very beginning. Later, our Cardiac High Acuity Monitoring Program (CHAMP) helped her family share daily health updates from home — reducing travel and giving them peace of mind.

Today, with more specialty care available at Children’s Mercy Wichita, Katelynn can get expert care closer to home — and spend more time doing what she loves.

Last week reminded us that healing is even more powerful when families come together. 💛

Our Burn Specialty Team welcomed more than 100 burn survivors and their families to the 6th annual Burn Unit Family Fun Day (BUFF Day) at Science City at Union Station.

This special day offers a meaningful opportunity to connect with other parents and burn survivors, build relationships and share experiences with others who truly understand their journey.

Families explored Burn Camp activities, played family bingo, tried sky biking, met reptiles, dug for dinosaur bones and filled the day with laughter, energy and unforgettable memories.

BUFF Day is a celebration of strength, resilience and connection—and a reminder of the incredible community surrounding our burn survivors and their families. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back next year!

Our April Employee of the Month, Mike, Manager of Clinical Devices and Third-Party Apps is being recognized for his quick thinking, teamwork and dedication to finding the right solution, even when challenges fall outside his regular role. His support helps teams stay focused on what matters most: patients and families.

Painted rocks, colorful bracelets and lots of laughter made for a memorable day at the hospital. 💚

The Wallaroos spent time with kids of all ages during a special inpatient visit last week, creating meaningful moments and connections. Their coach shared how giving back is a key part of the team’s culture of gratitude—and that spirit was felt throughout the visit.

Thank you to Kansas City Sports Commission & Foundation for making this special experience possible for our patients and families. 🏉

Meet Morea! She’s a 15-year-old who has lived with a donor kidney for almost 9 years. Born with a rare, severe kidney disorder, Morea had both her kidneys removed along with a kidney transplant in first grade. Today, she’s an active dancer looking forward to getting her driver’s license soon. 🩰🚗😎

Morea’s kidney status has made her curious about nursing as a career, and she's taking an Intro to Health Science Careers class next year. But before then, summer! “I’m very much looking forward to summer and freedom and being able to hang out with my friends!” said Morea.
