KU Respiratory Care and Diagnostic Science

KU Respiratory Care and Diagnostic Science KU's Bachelors of Science Degree in Respiratory Care advances the profession by training students to become leaders the clinic, teaching and research.

Professionals trained in the Department of Respiratory Care Education at the University of Kansas Medical Center treat patients with respiratory and other cardiopulmonary disorders. These patients range from premature infants with underdeveloped lungs to the elderly suffering from disease. KU offers two bachelor's degree programs to train respiratory therapists. The Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care requires students to complete two years of prerequisite course work before completing their final two years of education at the medical center. For working professionals with the RRT credential and an associate's degree, KU offers an online program that allows students to complete their degrees. This program is open only to students with experience as a respiratory therapist and the RRT credential.
