🎉 Happy 23rd Birthday, Healing House! 🎉

Today we’re celebrating 23 years of hope, healing, and transformation in Kansas City! 💜

What began in one home on St. John Avenue has grown into 20 properties serving more than 200 men, women, and families every day. Through God’s grace and the power of peer-led, faith-based recovery, Healing House has become a national model for long-term recovery — helping more than 16,000 people begin new lives in freedom and faith.

As we look ahead, our mission continues to grow with exciting projects like the Family Enrichment Center, Welcome Home Center, and Comfort Café — all investing in the future of recovery, families, and community.

To everyone who’s been part of this journey — residents, alumni, staff, volunteers, and supporters — thank you for 23 incredible years. Here’s to the next chapter of hope and healing in Kansas City! 💜🏠✨

KSHB 41 News exposed the rise of a synthetic chemical, 7OH, a lab-made derivative of kratom now being sold openly in Kansas City gas stations and convenience stores.

Healing House KC’s Bobbi Jo Reed and Joey Thomas spoke out about the devastation they’re seeing firsthand.

“It’s available everywhere and it’s highly addictive,” said Bobbi Jo.
“It’s definitely gas station he**in,” added Joey Thomas.

Unregulated, cheap, and up to 40 times stronger than morphine, 7OH is destroying lives and putting our neighbors at risk. Healing House KC stands with city leaders and recovery advocates calling for urgent regulation and community awareness.

We were so glad to welcome our friends from Church of the Resurrection to Healing House recently! It’s always a joy to reconnect, share updates, and celebrate what God is doing here.

Our COR visitors toured the newly renovated Family Recovery Center, seeing firsthand how these improvements are creating more space and support for families in recovery.

As we look toward 2026, we’re focused on expanding recovery programs and strengthening family-centered care. Thank you, COR, for your ongoing partnership and friendship — we’re grateful to walk this journey together!

🎄✨ A big thank-you to the KC South chapter of Business Networking International (BNI) for spending an afternoon with us last week at our Recovery Community Center!

After hosting their weekly lunch meeting, the group jumped right in to volunteer — helping decorate our stage for Christmas and adding beautiful new covers to the sound panels. The room looks incredible thanks to their hard work and holiday spirit!

They also had the opportunity to hear Tyler share his powerful story of recovery — a moving reminder of why our mission matters and how community support truly changes lives. 💙

This amazing group has supported Healing House in so many ways, including donating multiple auction items for our recent Gala. We’re so grateful for their continued partnership and generosity.

🎉 Birthday Party Fun! 🎉

This week we celebrated 10 amazing birthdays, that fall September through December, for our Healing House kids — and what a party it was! 🥳

Huge thanks to our incredible volunteers Katherine, Michelle, and Mindy from Church of the Resurrection for making the day so special. The kids loved the balloon art, games, gifts, and all the laughter that filled the room.

And a special shoutout to Dawn Murphy for the delicious cupcakes and brownies — they were a hit! 🧁

We’re so grateful for everyone who helps make these birthday celebrations full of joy, love, and fun. 💜

We’re proud to announce that our new website has earned a Silver award in this year’s competition! ✨

🚒✨ Big News from Healing House! ✨🚒

We’re thrilled to announce that Healing House has officially purchased the historic firehouse at the corner of St. John and Elmwood — and it’s all thanks to incredible supporters like YOU! ❤️

This beautiful landmark sits right in the heart of our campus, surrounded by our administrative buildings, and we couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead.

Here are a few photos of the interior currently. While renovations are on the horizon 🔨, in the short term, the firehouse will be used for recovery housing and recovery groups — continuing our mission to provide hope, healing, and community.
