Since 2009, For Strange Women has created perfume exclusively from plant aromatics. We source beautiful plant extracts from around the world and value sustainable practices. Botanical perfume can provide the spirit a connection to nature, the mind comfort, and the body an influence to calm or energize. We know that natural essences in just the right arrangement can transport the wearer to another time and place. These compositions are designed to create an experience that is beyond sensory aesthetics; conjuring memories from natural landscapes, experiences, and atmospheres remembered deep within the subconscious. Although mainstream culture presents perfume as a cosmetic to conceal other scents or to make us more attractive, we seek instead to create a sensory ritual that provides a connection to nature through its ability to communicate with our senses. We find natural perfume to be genderless and feel that the scent signature of our skin should be complemented, not hidden. Most of all, For Strange Women perfume is intended be worn as a personal indulgence and source of inspiration. For those who are normally allergic to perfume, this is typically a reaction to the chemicals hidden inside synthetic fragrances. We find natural plant oils to be safer and more satisfying to the senses. The complex scent arrangements evolve as they are worn and fade gracefully throughout the day.

The Rose and Jasmine single essences are back, now in 6mL roller bottles. These pure absolutes are diluted in an oil base so they can be worn alone or stacked with other scents. We especially recommend wearing these in your hair 🖤

Happy LUNAR NEW YEAR
I love to start the year with something light and uplifting (before diving into dark and moody) so here is the perfumers choice for this season:

SUSHI BAR

Sushi Bar greets you with the familiar elements of this place of comfort. As you enter, fresh overtones of ginger, yuzu and sudachi greet you with clean, uplifting overtones. As the scent evolves you may notice notes of a polished wood counter, chilled rice, dried nori, and shiso leaf. Small ceramic vessels of sake and green tea smooth the base of this delicate essence while striking a balanced perfection.

Next week is the new moon and the Limited Edition perfume release is admittedly what I have been wearing for months now, and I’m still loving the fresh, clean, light profile and all its references to one of my favorite places to go 🖤

We’ve slowly transitioned to new packaging, as we seem to be doing all the time. 🖤 All 5mL and 20mL bottles are now shipped with roller tops. If you want to convert the top to a twist-open or tap applicator, we now have a listing to order these as add-ons.

GALBANUM is a bitter green resin with a venomous undertone. We have found that while at first it may be strange, it can become addictive as one’s olfactory develops an appreciation for it. This accord puts pure galbanum resin at the heart, surrounding it with herbs to highlight its polarizing beauty and diffuse the edges with tea-like sweetness.

Our Accord Extraits are at the highest wearable concentration (30-60%) so that they can be worn sparingly or used to layer lightly into any other scent.

SEASHELL is the essence of sunlight reflecting off iridescent treasures on a shoreline. The mineral crystals from seawater combine with the mollusk’s proteins to create the gorgeous armor that one day is left behind. The Year of the Horse is coming up (and Frankie is ready) so we brought back this retired perfume to celebrate the year 🖤

This evocative formula moves swiftly into a warm heart of hay baking in the sun, woven with soft, sweet fields of alfalfa and clover. A comforting structure of cedarwood is supported with a dusty coat of dry musk and a thick accord of saddle leather.

Horse was first released in 2011. This batch is based on the same formula with added depth for this Year of the Horse tribute, Horse 2026.

She’s an escape, a muse, an entire experience. A sweet and sparkly opening of dreamy lilac and playful cotton candy settle into a crown of violets in this aromatic dissociation from reality. The airy accord is disarming and addictive, lacking depth and tenacity but filled with impulsive tendencies.
