We all like a good villain and cortisol is an easy target.

Many popular recommendations focus on suppressing cortisol at all costs because it's the "root problem"

But cortisol isn’t something to eliminate. It’s something to support properly. We need cortisol!

Aggressively trying to “lower cortisol” through:
- exercise avoidance
-severe carbohydrate restriction
-excessive supplements

can actually make symptoms worse....

What most midlife bodies need isn’t cortisol suppression, it’s better stress recovery and regulation.

I know it might feel like emotional eating....

But needing a snack in the afternoon is actually physiological not emotional.

Most adults need to eat every 3-4 hours for steady energy, blood sugar, and mood.

I always say if you want to feel less REactive around food you need to be PROactive.

Often that looks like planned snacks.

They help keep you steady, can help you meet your nutrient needs, and set you up to be less reactive at dinner.

And yes roasted edamame is one of my favorite on the go snacks!
