Happy Long-Term Care Administrator Week! 🤙🌺

We kicked off the week at our Veteran Home by celebrating Cheree with a few small tokens of appreciation! We surprised her with donuts, breakfast, coffee, and lei to start the day. ☕🍩🌸

Our staff also took some time to go around during our morning meeting and share some of our favorite things about her. Cheree is hard-working, resilient, and someone who truly perseveres through challenges. She’s caring, supportive, encouraging, and always mission-driven in her dedication to our Veterans and our team.

I have personally watched Irene stop to check in with residents, asking how they are and even what the favorite part of their day was. That level of kindness and engagement goes far beyond housekeeping responsibilities. It reflects compassion, presence, and a true heart for the veterans who live here.

Cleanliness is important, but the feeling of being cared about is priceless. Irene provides both.

✅ Build strength: Chair squats, leg lifts, and wall push-ups support everyday movements.
✅ Improve balance: Heel-to-toe walks, toe stands, or marching in place help prevent falls.
✅ Stay flexible: Gentle stretches ease stiffness and keep joints moving.
✅ Boost endurance: Walking, seated marches, or biking support heart and lung health.

🎄✨ Celebrating Our Oʻahu Ohana ✨🎄

This year has been an amazing year for our team at the Daniel Kahikina Akaka State Veterans Home! We were happy to join our OPH ʻohana at the annual Christmas party for a much-deserved celebration for our staff! From delicious food and dancing to games, contests, and amazing prizes, the celebration was filled with laughter, gratitude, and plenty of holiday cheer.

A special highlight of the evening was recognizing Ohana Pacific Health’s 2025 Ohana Champions who are team members nominated by their peers for consistently going above and beyond the call of duty. Their dedication, compassion, and commitment truly reflect the heart of our Ohana.
