Extensive experience working in humanitarian crises with Doctors Without Borders in Liberia (MSF) during the heat of the civil war. I have over five years of experiences in development work. I am currently working on a consultancy contract with a USAID-funded project to develop a program for the recruitment, training and deployment of community health officers. I have worked extensively with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Liberia, the medical centers and other nonprofit organizations to jump start this flagship program in Liberia. I founded Refuge Place International (a nonprofit organization to help construct a maternal newborn and child clinic and develop health services in the slums of Monrovia, the capital city of Liberia) in both the USA and Liberia in 2009. As executive director, I recruit some volunteer Liberian-American and other American health professionals to help develop a training curriculum for allied health workers. I also help to cofound Horizon International a nonprofit helping war-affected women and children in the Democratic Republic of Congo. I am currently serving as vice president on a voluntary basis. I have valuable experiences in grant writing, monitoring and evaluation and public health (Global Health) program development and Implementation. My experiences, knowledge and skills in Public Health programmatic areas include: maternal, newborn and child (MNC), Women, Gender and Health , public health workforce development, health care delivery research and program management in peri-urban slums. It also includes Infectious disease epidemiology (malaria, TB and HIV\AIDS).

Today, September 1,2021, I took my second and final dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine. I should have taken it on August 11,2021, the vaccine was not available then. But I knew that a delay of up to 12 weeks was ok.

It has been a great moment reuniting with my kids, nieces and nephews after a long time. They had a good time touring the city and have fun. I had to sadly tell them goodbye this morning as they head back to Liberia.

“As I write, mass fatalities from COVID-19 have begun in Africa. Overall, only 1.1% of people in low-income countries have received at least one vaccine dose. In my own Liberia, the proportion of people who have had both doses is just 0.18%. Recorded cases in the country jumped by 144% between 1 June and 21 July. This is probably an undercount.”

Therefore, I admonish you to please:

1. Wear your masks when you are around others

2. Avoid parties and large social gatherings

3. When you do not feel well go for a voluntary COVID-19 test
