Mental health is not “just psychological.” Hormones directly influence brain chemistry, emotional regulation, sleep, focus, and resilience. When estrogen, progesterone, cortisol, or thyroid levels are dysregulated, it can show up as anxiety, depression, irritability, or persistent brain fog. Many individuals, especially women, are treated for symptoms without anyone asking why those symptoms are happening in the first place.

At LG Counseling, we look deeper. Because understanding the root creates real, lasting change.

We were honored to represent both LG Counseling and Houston Brain Center at the 1st National First Responders Day event at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds! 🇺🇸⛑️🚑🧯🚔

Our clinician Megan Polatsidis, LPC Associate shared insights about the effectiveness of EMDR therapy for trauma and resilience, while Assistant Director Briana Johnson, M.A., LPC educated attendees of Neurofeedback and the importance of brain health in supporting mental wellness.

Earlier this week our Assistant Director, Briana Johnson, M.A., LPC, had the privilege of presenting at the Alief ISD Counselor Institute Intensive; a districtwide professional development event designed to equip school counselors with timely, impactful tools.

Briana delivered two dynamic 1.5-hour presentations:
🧠 Angry Girls – unpacking the emotional and social complexities of how young girls express (or suppress) anger
🧠 Emotional Intelligence in Action – offering strategies for fostering emotional skills in elementary and middle school students

As both a licensed professional counselor and an Alief ISD alumna, Briana brought a powerful mix of personal insight and clinical expertise. We are incredibly proud to see our leadership team contributing to the emotional wellness of students across the Greater Houston area.
