Spring Branch Community Health Center Our mission is to increase the number of healthy families in our community by providing high quality, comprehensive health services.

SBCHC is located on the west side of Houston, Texas, in Harris County. Harris County is the third most populous county in the United States with a population of over four (4) million people (U.S. Census, 2010), this represents a 20% increase in the population since 2000. Within Harris County approximately two million people are residents of Houston, the fourth largest city in the country. The Spring Branch target area, which has a total population of 127,402 residents, is largely a minority, low-income area dominated by Hispanics who speak Spanish as their first language.

Last weekend, in partnership with the Office of Commissioner Lesley Briones, Precinct 4, SBCHC hosted our Colorectal Cancer Awareness: Lunch & Learn, where attendees learned more about the third most common cancer in the United States. Guests enjoyed lunch while participating in an informative session focused on lowering their risk, understanding the importance of routine health screenings, and recognizing early warning signs. Participants were also connected with community resources and support made possible through our dedicated partners, volunteers, and healthcare professionals. Events like this empower our community with knowledge and encourage healthier choices through education, prevention, and access to care. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Houston Health Department, UTHealth Houston School of Public Health, and UT MD Anderson Cancer Center for their support in helping make this event memorable and life-changing for our attendees.

El pasado fin de semana, en colaboración con la Oficina de la Comisionada Lesley Briones, del Distrito 4, SBCHC organizó nuestro evento «Concienciación sobre el cáncer colorrectal: Almuerzo y aprendizaje», en el que los asistentes pudieron informarse sobre el tercer tipo de cáncer más frecuente en Estados Unidos. Los invitados disfrutaron de un almuerzo mientras participaban en una sesión informativa centrada en cómo reducir el riesgo, comprender la importancia de las pruebas de detección rutinarias y reconocer los primeros síntomas. Los participantes también pudieron conectarse con los recursos comunitarios y el apoyo que hacen posible nuestros socios, voluntarios y profesionales sanitarios comprometidos. Earlier this month, we kicked off March with a special Community Baby Shower in partnership with the Office of Commissioner Lesley Briones, Precinct 4, and March of Dimes, with special sponsorship from Molina Healthcare. Hosted on March 7, this event brought together new and expecting mothers for a day filled with prenatal and postnatal education, CPR demonstrations, wellness classes, and special giveaways to help them prepare for their growing families.

Our Community Health Team, along with our partners, supporters, and volunteers, worked together to create a supportive experience for every participant. The event provided great resources and guidance to help future and new mothers make healthy lifestyle choices while building a strong support system for themselves and their little ones.

A principios de este mes, dimos la bienvenida a marzo con un Baby Shower Comunitaria especial para futuras mamás, organizada en colaboración con la Oficina de la Comisionada Lesley Briones, Distrito 4, y March of Dimes, con el patrocinio especial de Molina Healthcare. Celebrado el 7 de marzo, este evento reunió a madres primerizas y embarazadas en una mañana llena de formación prenatal y posnatal, demostraciones de RCP, clases de bienestar y obsequios especiales para ayudarlas a prepararse para sus familias en crecimiento.

Nuestro equipo de salud comunitario, junto con nuestros socios, colaboradores y voluntarios, trabajó en conjunto para crear una experiencia de apoyo para todas las participantes. El evento proporcionó excelentes recursos y orientación para ayudar a las futuras y nuevas madres a tomar decisiones de estilo de vida saludables, al tiempo que construyen un sólido sistema de apoyo para ellas mismas y sus pequeños.

Our missions is to increase the number of healthy families in our community by providing high quality, comprehensive healthcare services. We seek to be a champion in community wellness by providing integrated primary care services to all who seek it.
