🚨 New Texas Laws Impacting Assisted Living & Group Homes – What You NEED to Know 🚨

Big changes are coming for anyone operating or referring to assisted living and group homes in Texas.

✅ House Bill 2510
Starting September 1, 2025, it will be a crime to operate an assisted living facility without a license — including providing personal care services without proper licensing.
📌 First offense = Class A misdemeanor
📌 Second offense = FELONY
This is a major move to crack down on illegal operators and protect our seniors.

✅ Senate Bill 1137
Also effective September 1, 2025, this law targets group homes and referral consultants:

Background checks are now REQUIRED for all employees.

Referring someone to an unlicensed group home? That could be a Class B misdemeanor unless certain exceptions apply.

Consultants must disclose known complaints or risks.

👉 These laws are designed to protect families, hold bad actors accountable, and raise the standard of care across Texas.
