Today is World Kindness Day.

I think this day should be celebrated on the magnitude of Christmas.

You can NEVER go wrong with kindness.

Kindness towards yourself and others is a lost art these days, but I sense that it is returning as we increase our collective awareness.

I also believe that to be truly healthy and fit, requires that you first be kind to yourself (hence self care) and then it gives you a greater capacity to be kind towards others.

With today being Veteran's Day it has me reflecting on the many liberties and freedoms that I often take for granted.

One of those liberties is my ability to choose how to take care of my body.

Each day I get to choose how I spend my time, what I eat, how I move my body.

I encourage you to ask yourself. "how am I choosing to take care of my body given the freedoms that I have?"

Nobody is perfect and we don't always make the right choice, but at least we have that choice, which is priceless.

Most people know that I am a weird person.

I am the guy that eats raw beef liver on a daily basis and shuns artificial light.

I get particularly glaring looks when people notice that I don't wear shoes.

Today is National Cappuccino Day!

Yes it is for real ;)

It makes me think.

We have become so used to processed, man-made "foods" that we sometimes forget how delicious and naturally appealing REAL foods are to our sense of taste, smell and touch.

I challenge you to adjust your "whole food to processed food ratio" to favor more natural foods.

Nature can please the taste buds like no other if you just give her a chance! :)

What is the BEST form of exercise for you?

A) Super intense. Go as hard as you can possibly go and push past "the limits"

B) Go as hard as you can go, but listen to your body.

C) Moderate intensity, such as brisk walking, moderate weight training and staying active throughout the day.

There is a fallacy in our culture that we haven't figured out in over 100 years.

I believe that this fallacy is a fundamental mistake in our collective consciousness and I want to bring light to it.

The fallacy that I speak of is the inherent belief that "something better is coming".

To contextualize, I am specifically speaking about health and fitness.

Have you ever been guilty of the following?

"Something better is coming that will help me lose weight"

"Something better is coming that will help me exercise more consistently"

"Something better is coming that will help me eat more nutritious foods"

We are always looking for the grass to be greener.

But the simple fact of the matter is that we are living in human bodies that do not care about cultural trends, diets, or quick fixes.

Our bodies abide by biological and physiological laws.

Simple put, our bodies are hard wired to do what they have always done, namely, move...and move a LOT!

They are also designed to eat REAL food.

Sure, find the best way to accomplish that for what tickles your fancy, but don't overcomplicate the process by hoping that there is a "better way".

Leave that to Silicon Valley and the futurist.

As for you and your health journey, come back to the basics and never leave again.

Your life will be less complicated as a result. I promise ;)
