“Kīpuka, area of land ranging from several square metres to several square kilometres where existing rock of either volcanic or nonvolcanic origin has been completely surrounded, but not covered, by later lava flows. Surface features of this type are common in Hawaii, where the term kīpuka (“opening”) originated.” Britannia.com
Aloha & Welcome to my page. Thank you for the virtual visit. I would like to introduce myself to you, if I may. I am Lynne Rose Mollo, born and raised in Rhode Island by my second generation Italian American parents. My upbringing was full of family, adventures and deep insight. I can’t remember when Psychology and the study of the human psyche was not my interest.
In this world that seems full of sadness, despair, grief and challenges that are often hard to face, I have found the “opening” where I can safely work on becoming more of the authentic human I’ve always hoped for. When you truly accept yourself you will find contentment. You will be full of energy to give to those who have not found that “Kīpuka” in the midst of the harden and desolate lava field. I chose to name my practice Kīpuka Counseling and Consulting because I believe that without hope there is no way to achieve true authenticity and contentment. The Kīpuka suggests hope and safety. It is an opening, rich with vibrant life and soil for growth. It is the “opening” to which all dreams, desires and contentment are birthed.
Since 1981 I have been formally developing my skills as a Mental Health practitioner. I began in Boston Massachusetts working with Children, Vietnam Veterans, Homeless and Incarcerated individuals. Later in Hawaii I worked extensively with Children on the Autism Spectrum and Severe behavioral and psychological challenges. I have worked with elderly, specific ethnic populations, communities and groups. My style and interventions are eclectic with a strong behavioral psychology component. I am trained and certified in many different and unique interventions and curricula.
