Are you up-to-date with your colore**al cancer screenings?

People at average risk of colore**al cancer are recommended to start colon and re**al cancer screenings when they are 45. Those at higher risk may need to be screened earlier.

Gastroenterologist Suzannah Luft, MD, shares what options are available for patients and how the process works.

"We understand it seems really scary and nobody likes to come to the hospital for a procedure," she said, "but once you get here ... we really want to make this easy."

Please welcome our next class of Family Medicine residents! 🩺

Under the supervision of fully trained physicians, these six residents will start this summer as primary care providers in our Family & Community Care clinic. After completing their three-year residency, they will be able to work as family physicians without oversight.

This is the third class of residents we have added to our Family Medicine Residency program since 2024, driving forward our mission of improving access to care in our community.

This LGBTQ+ Health Awareness Week, we want to remind patients that we provide comprehensive care for all.

Karl Dietrich, MD, MPH, director of our Family & Community Care clinic, shares the services we offer for the LGBTQ+ population and the importance of offering this care in our rural community.

"Geography shouldn't impact the quality of care a patient can receive," he said. "We know that gender diverse patients live everywhere, right? And so it's so important to be able to offer these services in rural areas."

When Michael LaCrosse was 34 years-old, he was diagnosed with stage three colore**al cancer.

The diagnosis came after experiencing blood in his p**p for about a year. It was inconsistent and sparse, so he decided it wasn’t worth a doctor’s visit.

“My biggest hesitancy was it’s a region of the body that’s not exactly comfortable to have a doctor rooting around in, so that was my biggest hang up …,” he said. “I passed it off as no big deal. Of course, it ended up being a huge deal.”
