What a blessing to support this mom of identical twins. After tagging this photo of her birth and writing such kind words to me, I feel incredibly thankful to be able to support births of all kinds. ❤️.

Many have asked through the years why a woman would want a doula for her c-section. This is why!

Not every C-section story is filled with silence,
some are filled with the most beautiful sounds of life.

You know, not every mama walked into that operating room shaking, crying, or terrified.

Some did though but others had doctors and nurses who spoke to them like family.

They explained every step, every tug, every moment until fear had no space left to grow.

Some mamas heard, “You’re doing amazing.”
They heard the sound of their baby’s first cry while still lying there, numb and stitched.

They had a midwife who grabbed their phone and caught that first cry on video.

And for them, that sound, that tiny cry became the loudest, most beautiful sound of life.

It wasn’t silence.
It was proof.
Proof that even in surgery, there can still be joy.
Proof that not every C Section birth story is same.

So this is to the mama who remembers her C-section with gratitude :
You have this highest hi- five 👋
You walked in, trusted the hands that helped you, and came out with life in your arms.
And that’s something you’ll carry with you forever. 🤍

I get to do this everyday in my doula work. I get to teach clients skills so that they are educated and informed concerning their choices in labor. I get to support a dream of a first time mom, who has cried out desperately for years for a baby, after many miscarriages or IVF. I get to support VBACS after their difficult first births. Their look on their faces are unmatched, as they say, “I did it!” ❤️. I get to be there through the entire struggle, prenatally, labor, pushing, and during the postpartum period. I get to be in the trenches with them, spurring them on, praying and interceding for them through the highs and lows of labor, answering the tough questions that form throughout, and comforting them through the uncertainties of each situation that arises. I get to be there to share the joys of life being brought into the world and I get to be there to share in their sorrow when death takes their baby all too soon. I never in a million years would have guessed I’d do what I do, but it’s easy to see God’s hand on every job/career that I have done leading up to it. I’m grateful for the last 15 years I’ve been able to serve hundreds and hundreds of families. Here’s to another 15!

What a sweet vbac, and quite fast and furious, I might add.
At 11 pm, I got the first text from this client stating that she had a two contractions that were five minutes a part. No later than 10 minutes, I received a call. Contractions were three to four minutes a part. We headed to the hospital and baby was born by 1:03 am. The most incredible part of this birth was watching her deliver, while standing and leaning over the end of the bed, with the hospital midwife sitting on the floor, catching baby. It’s a treasure to see these kids of births in the hospital, and it shows it can be done with a solid team!
