Elizabeth Ann "Liz" Johnson

Elizabeth “Liz” Johnson, 88, passed away on March 29, 2026, at her home in Osburn, Idaho, due to complications from COPD and heart disease.

Liz was born on April 16, 1937, in Butte, Montana, to John and Bernice Christian. She later moved with her family to Kellogg, Idaho, along with two of her three sisters. Her youngest sister, Margaret, was born after the family settled in Kellogg.

While attending high school, Liz met Eugene “Gene” Johnson, a handsome young sailor who was also from Kellogg. The two were married on June 7, 1955, and together they raised two daughters, Deborah Kidder and Brenda Streeter. Gene preceded her in death in 2013 after 57 years of marriage.

In her younger years, Liz enjoyed square dancing, bowling, snowmobiling, and golfing alongside her husband. She found great joy in being a homemaker and took immense pride in her roles as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her family was the center of her life, and she especially cherished family dinners and holiday gatherings.

Liz was known for her sweet and gentle nature, which endeared her to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She is survived by her sisters, Kathy Keathley of Aberdeen, Washington, and Margaret Yamamoto of Cascade, Idaho; her daughter, Deborah (James) Kidder of Kooskia, Idaho; her granddaughter, Jami (Chris) Carlson of Prichard, Idaho; her great-granddaughters, Makayla Carlson (Tanner) of Kellogg, Idaho, and Kaylee (Wyett) King of Kellogg, Idaho; and her great-great-grandson, Koen Gene Garitone of Kellogg, Idaho. Liz was eagerly awaiting the arrival of two great-great-grandchildren, Wrenley Elizabeth King, due in May, and baby Gallian, due in October, whom she sadly did not have the opportunity to meet.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene Johnson; her daughter, Brenda Streeter; her son-in-law, Henry Teats; her sister, Bernice White; and her parents.

A private graveside service and family gathering will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Shoshone County Ambulance Service District, PO Box 488, Osburn, ID 83849.

Heidi Suzanne Clawson

Heidi S. (Giles) Clawson was born at the Wallace Hospital (on the bottom of Cedar Street) on April 19, 1962 and passed away March 21, 2026 at the Shoshone Medical Center in Kellogg. She was born with a dislocated hip and, as a toddler, wore a brace to fix it, but it never kept her from running around with the King Street gang of kids.Heidi loved people and different cultures. She spent some time in Japan after being invited there by one of the Japanese exchange students she got to know when they came to the Silver Valley. As a family we spent many happy hours on the Oregon coast, we played board games, walked on the beach collecting shells and held hands jumping waves, these are the memories of her I cherish most.Heidi loved children and worked in a day care in Coeur d’Alene, called Noah’s Ark and then later as a nanny. She had an LPN degree from the North Idaho Community College and worked for a while in Home Health, caring for the elderly. She had a lot of compassion. She also loved animals, especially dogs, if she were out in a park or walking somewhere she would always stop to talk to people with dogs, and oftentimes would take photographs of the dogs, which she would later enlarge, have laminated and made into perpetual calendars to give to the owners. She loved talking to people and made a lot of friends wherever she went.Being born into an artistic family, Heidi was blessed with an eye for composition and took beautiful nature photographs. She appreciated, and collected artwork. She especially loved Native American art.She was creative, loved to paint and make things from found objects, like driftwood. She had a nice voice and loved to sing .She sang in the choir at church as a young person and later as an adult, led the choir for a while, She was in the Sweet Adelines for a while, after that she was quite taken by, and never passed up an opportunity to do Karaoke. She loved to cook and try fancy recipes—she always had to get the exact ingredients the recipes called for, much to the chagrin of her sister who tried to tell her there were more accessible and less expensive, perfectly good substitutions.Heidi was married to Brian Clawson (December 31,1993), until he passed away —coincidentally—on the same day (March 21st), only in 2014.While Heidi never had children, she was very fond of her niece Romy Ehrsam and lavished her with attention & brought her special gifts from her travels abroad. She had sparkling eyes and a beautiful smile. In her last years she made some bad decisions and took some wrong & troubling detours, we are grateful she is now in a safe and peaceful place. The family would like to thank PK Stremic who helped her through the troubled times, the kind staff at Shoshone Medical center who took good care of her in her last days. And also her life long King Street friend Kristi Gnaedinger & her friends from the Silver Hills Apartments who came and sat with her in the hospital so she wasn’t alone. Cancer is an ugly disease, but at the end she slipped away very peacefully surrounded by her family. She is survived by her sister & brother in law Gretchen & Rick Ehrsam, her beloved niece Romy Ehrsam, her cousins and her many friends. There will be a memorial service later in the summer. If you are inclined, please make donations to the Wallace Food Bank.

Roxann Sue Eversole

Roxann Sue (Baldwin) Eversole, lovingly known to many as Roxy or “Big Red,” passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026, at the age of 63 in Smelterville, Idaho, with the love of her life, Sam, by her side after a long and courageously fought battle with cancer.

Born on July 10, 1962, in Wallace, Roxann was a true Pinecricker at heart, raised in Pine Creek, where she developed the strength, grit, and fearless personality that would define her throughout life. She attended St. Maries School and carried her hardworking spirit into careers that included bartending, working at Scheffelmaier’s, and the refinery.

Roxann’s greatest accomplishment was the family she built and loved fiercely. She is survived by her children: Jay (Shanin) Eversole, Brenda (Issac) Cotsford, Tasheena (Ivan) Tellez, and Darcy Eversole. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Melinda Eversole and Heather Lisk, whose memories remained forever close to her heart.

She also leaves behind 18 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, her devoted husband Sam Eversole, her mother Phyllis Barker, stepfather Bob Barker, stepmother Terrann Tester, and siblings Stacy Baldwin, Callee Jaejar, Chandra Barker, Candace Hendzel, Joni Johnston, Dale Barker, Teri Miner, Casey McInelly, and Brandy Baldwin, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Stanley Baldwin, Dawn Kitchen her cousin, as well as her daughters Melinda and Heather, and her aunts Joanne Avery, and Donna Kitchen.

Anyone who knew Roxann knew she loved the outdoors and felt most at home in the Idaho mountains—hunting, fishing, huckleberry picking, camping, and taking the occasional side-by-side ride. In later years, she especially loved spending time near the Clark Fork River, where the peace of the water matched the depth of her love for family.

Roxann was courageous, deeply loyal, and never afraid to say exactly what was on her mind. If she loved you, you knew it. If you needed help, she was there. And if you needed putting in your place, she handled that too—without hesitation and often with humor that left her getting the last laugh. She loved hard, protected fiercely, and had a way of making her presence known in every room she entered.

She created traditions her family will forever treasure, especially her unforgettable Christmas in July, because for Roxann, one holiday season a year simply wasn’t enough.

She also took great pride in one family joke she never let die—that she had a better shot than her husband—and anyone who knew her knows she would insist that be included here so she could still have the last laugh.

At this time, no formal services are planned. A celebration of life will be held later for family and close friends, where stories, laughter, and a few strong opinions in her honor will no doubt be shared—exactly how she would have wanted it.

The family would like to extend its heart felt gratitude and thanks to Hospice of North Idaho and specifically to her nurse Eli. In lieu of any donations or flowers, please consider donating to Hospice of North Idaho.

Memories of Roxann and messages of condolence may be shared online with her family at www.shoshonefuneralservice.com. Shoshone Funeral Services of the Silver Valley is caring for the Eversole family.

Dario Dean Madrid

Dario “Dean” Madrid, 55, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, after a sudden diagnosis of leukemia. Dean was born on October 10, 1970 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to Felix V. Madrid and Shirley (Payton) Madrid. He was raised in Kellogg, Idaho (Elizabeth Park), where he grew up surrounded by family, friends, and the close-knit community he loved.

Dean attended Elk Creek Elementary, Silver King School, and Kellogg Junior and Senior High School, graduating with the Class of 1988. During his youth, he attended American Lutheran Church in Kellogg. Growing up, Dean loved fishing with his dad, playing hacky sack, hanging with his friends, and enjoying life.

Dean built a strong work ethic early in life. Before beginning his long career in the automotive industry, he worked for Lifetime Roofing and Siding. In his 20s, Dean survived a life-changing accident when he fell from the “Silver Bridge” onto the rocks below. He lived the next 30 years with a fractured back supported by two metal rods, facing life with strength, resilience, and determination.

For nearly 20 years, Dean worked at Dave Smith Motors in Coeur d’Alene, where he served most recently as Parts Manager. Prior to that, he worked at J&D Stereo, where he became well known for his custom stereo and audio installations. In the early 1990s, it was common for people to hear Dean’s truck long before they saw it, earning him the nickname “Boom Boom” Madrid. Dean had a deep love for music and rarely missed a chance to see his favorite band, Motley Crue, attending their concerts whenever he could.

In his younger years, Dean loved skateboarding and later enjoyed snowboarding with family and friends. He also had a special place in his heart for his dogs, especially those who went before him, Roach and Dozer.

One of the greatest joys of Dean’s life began in March of 1998 when he had his first date with Sara Hawks. The rest, as they say, is history. Dean and Sara were married on April 14, 2001, sharing a deep, true, and lasting love. Dean loved being a father to Chris and Bryson, as well as the years of supporting their wrestling activities and cheering them on. Dean and Sara were looking forward to celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary this year.

Dean was a loving husband, proud stepfather, devoted grandfather, wonderful brother, and loyal friend. He will be remembered for his strength, humor, love of music, and the deep care he had for the people in his life.

Dean is survived by his loving wife, Sara Madrid; stepson Chris Vergobbi; beloved grandsons Olyver and Ace; sister Elena Madrid; nephew Jordan Nelson; brothers Richard and Robert Fausett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Felix and Shirley Madrid; siblings Ronnie, Ted, Lonnie, and Bill Fausett; and his beloved stepson Bryson Vergobbi.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Kellogg EMS and ambulance and fire crew support for their compassionate care and assistance.

A Celebration of Dean’s life will be held for family, friends and co-workers at a later date. More information to come.

Donations in Dean’s name may be made to Hospice of North Idaho.
