With confirmed cases of measles in North Carolina, now is the time to educate yourself measles and the MMR vaccine to protect yourself and your family.

Measles is a very contagious disease, but it can be prevented with a vaccine. It spreads through the air and by close contact with someone who is sick. The virus can stay in the air for up to two hours after a person leaves the area.

ECU Health’s HealThy Neighbors program continues to grow thanks to dedicated faith partners who open their doors to bring wellness resources directly into their communities. This photo highlights one of our recent church collaborations, where neighbors came together to learn, connect and take steps toward better health.

Duplin County is now looking for its next church partner to join the HealThy Neighbors network. If your congregation is committed to supporting health and wellness, we’d love to work with you.

After a historic snowfall in eastern North Carolina, we’d like to share a few safety reminders for the coming days. Despite the weather, ECU Health hospitals and emergency departments remain open and here to serve you, thanks to our incredible team members.

Cold weather is expected to continue and it’s important to bundle up while outdoors – wear layers, hat and gloves, and boots with good traction. While shoveling, stay hydrated, move small amounts of snow at a time and take breaks. Avoid travel when possible and check local listings for road closures. If you must drive, go slowly and be aware of black ice, even on cleared roads.

For information on clinic closures and delays, please visit https://go.ecuhealth.org/4ru0izt.
