Kenmore Mercy Hospital

Kenmore Mercy Hospital Founded in 1951, Kenmore Mercy was established by the Sisters of Mercy to respond to the needs of Buffalo’s northern neighborhoods.

It continues to grow and evolve to meet the community’s changing needs. Today, the hospital provides its patients with a nationally recognized knee & hip center, state-of-the-art emergency care, stroke care, medical rehabilitation unit, sleep medicine, imaging technology, palliative care, interventional radiology, cardiopulmonary testing, and enhanced medical, surgical, and critical care services. As a Joint Commission accredited hospital, Kenmore Mercy meets the highest quality and safety standards in the industry. This is further demonstrated by its consecutive "A" ratings from The Leapfrog Group since 2014. As of 2017, Kenmore Mercy is Western New York’s only Magnet-recognized hospital. The Magnet Recognition reflects the highest standards of nursing professionalism, collaboration and teamwork. To learn more, visit chsbuffalo.org or call (716) 447-6205.

This Doctor's Day, let us take a moment to recognize the extraordinary skill and compassion that our doctors display every day. Through the work they do and the lives they change, their dedication to quality patient care extends far beyond the walls of our facilities.

Bruce Pleskow was quickly transported to Kenmore Mercy Hospital after a wound from a fall became infected. The emergency team acted quickly, not only saving his life but also discovering a blockage in his heart that could have resulted in a serious cardiac emergency.

"My leg was septic. As a healthcare provider myself, I know situations like that can be a 50/50 outcome. I was fortunate to survive. But the care didn’t stop there. During testing, my medical team discovered I had an atrioventricular block in my heart, a serious condition that could have led to a cardiac emergency. That’s why this March 30, I want to recognize Dr. Kozlowski and the entire care team at Kenmore Mercy Hospital on Doctors’ Day."

Regular screenings are crucial in the fight against colon cancer, enabling early detection and removal of precancerous growths. While colonoscopies are the most reliable method, there are also convenient at-home test kits and f***l immunochemical tests (FIT) available, providing effective alternatives for those at lower risk. Stay proactive about your health.

Looks like the Easter Bunny sent a couple of helpers ahead of schedule… and they needed a little assistance! 🐰🚑💙

Two bunnies were found in a bit of a “hare-y” situation outside of Kenmore Mercy Hospital today, but don’t worry, our team hopped right into action! Mary LaMartina, BSN, RN, CCRN, spotted the pair and called in backup: Mari Lovullo, BSN, RN, known for her love for animals (and clearly the right person for this special mission!)

Mari quickly contacted the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, who arrived in no time to rescue the fluffy duo. Investigator Kevin Holzle and Environmental Conservation Officer Michael Wozniak were happy to report the bunnies were safe, unharmed, and released into nearby woods - just in time to get back to Easter duties! 🐣🌷

Who knew our care extended to patients with paws too?! 💙
