Residents practice our values in many ways. This month, the Crossalands residents coordinated a free benefit art show featuring 34 donated works from residents at Kendal at Longwood, Cartmel, Coniston and Crosslands. The proceeds from the art sale will go to the Kennett Area Community Service (KACS) and the Kennett Library. The show is officially on November 20 from 5pm-7pm, but the art is beautifully displayed now in the library. Here's a link to the library's website for more information. As Halloween approaches, the staff are getting into the spirit of the season with their customary pumpkin decorating contest. Here are the contenders at Kendal at Longwood and Crosslands. Which one is your favorite? Oh and the Early Learning Center children roamed the center to do some trick or treating.

This week, Crosslands celebrates 30 years of raising money for The American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), an organization established in 1917 in Philadelphia to provide conscientious services of love for humanity in wartime. The residents donate items for sale, and all proceeds are donated to AFSC. These items are beautifully displayed in their newly refurbished and expanded location called "The Shed". Each year, Crosslands raises $16,000 and at times over $25,000. This week, the celebration included a preview party, with wonderful music by Crosslands' own musical group "The Sweet Potato Fries", festive cupcakes, and smiles.

Over the past few years, we have undergone transformative projects that foster community living, protect the environment, and honor our history - - from a newly re-imagined health center on our Kendal at Longwood campus to a new apartment building and cottages on our Crosslands campus. We have been supporting Family Promise of Southern Chester County for 10 years. This year, our Senior Director of HR distributed the staff members' back-to-school supplies from a drive held during their staff picnic. Practicing our values of outreach into the broader community.
