A busy and meaningful week for the Powerback team in Washington, D.C. 🇺🇸

Our leaders were proud to attend the ADVION conference, connecting with peers across the post-acute care industry to share insights, strengthen partnerships, and continue advancing the future of rehabilitation and senior care.

While in D.C., our team also took time to visit Capitol Hill, advocating for the therapy professions and the patients who rely on them every day. Ensuring strong support for PT, OT, and SLP services helps protect access to care and the future of rehabilitation.

Through personalized therapy, education, and support, pulmonary rehabilitation helps patients improve endurance, manage symptoms, and safely return to the activities they love.

To our Powerback Respiratory clinicians and teams who guide patients through every breath and every milestone, thank you for the life-changing work you do every day.

During Patient Safety Awareness Week, we’re reminded that safe recovery starts with the right care, the right support, and the right rehabilitation team.

Louis, a 50-year-old patient, came to rehab following a hospitalization that left him with significant weakness, balance challenges, and limited mobility. At the start of therapy, he was unable to walk, required assistance for transfers, and had a Berg Balance Score of 6/56, indicating a very high risk for falls.

Through focused therapy and a strong commitment to safety, Louis worked closely with his care team to rebuild his strength, mobility, and balance. Today, he can walk 115 feet with a two-wheeled walker, safely perform sit-to-stand transfers, and has improved his Berg Balance Score to 26/56, significantly reducing his fall risk. He also progressed from requiring maximum assistance with daily activities to contact guard assistance.

Louis’ progress highlights the importance of skilled rehabilitation in improving safety, reducing fall risk, and helping patients regain independence.

This Patient Safety Awareness Week, we celebrate the teams dedicated to helping patients recover safely every step of the way.

Mr. Randle came to Starkville Manor facing serious challenges, but with determination and the support of his therapy team, he made an incredible comeback.

When he arrived, Mr. Randle required a modified diet and assistance with everyday tasks. Through physical, occupational, and speech therapy, he regained his strength, improved his mobility, and progressed back to a regular diet. Today, he’s independent with daily activities, walking over 1,000 feet, and safely navigating stairs, ready to return home to his family.

Stories like Mr. Randle’s remind us why we do what we do helping people regain independence and get their power back.
