Occasionally buckles need to be removed after the retina reattaches. In this case, the buckle was returned to me in the form of a golden halo for Uwi who is depicted here in this one of a kind art piece. I truly appreciate these creative expressions and will begin displaying all the treasures on the wall in the back just under the surfboard, because I’m running out of space in the hub where I hang out in between patients! 🙏😍🙏

Choroidal melanoma demonstrating overlying orange pigment with a halo of subretinal fluid at the base of the lesion. Height of 7mm. Patient was referred to Northwestern for further management, which likely will take the form of plaque brachytherapy versus proton beam radiation. No extra-scleral extension was noted.

Flourescein angiogram of proliferative diabetic retinopathy. Compliments to Morgan, our new ophthalmic imager, for snapping such a crisp image of this pathology. Patient will be undergoing treatment with a combination of injections and laser for his macular edema and neovascularization.
