Family caregivers who are providing support for someone who has dementia, such as a loved one, neighbor, or friend meet first Wednesdays of every month, 10 - 11:30 a.m., to relax, chat, and learn something new. The meeting is facilitated by the ADRC's Dementia Care Specialist and is available in person, by video conferencing, or phone. The next meeting is March 4. Please join the Kenosha County ADRC for a Memory Café on Wednesday, March 11, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Memory Café is a place for persons with Mild Cognitive Impairment, early-stage Alzheimer’s, or related dementia and their care partners to socialize and have fun. Memory Café meets the 2nd Wednesday of every month at the Kenosha Northside Neighborhood Library at the Kenosha Northside Neighborhood Library, 1500 27th Avenue, Activity Room A. AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent Program Volunteer Doreen takes a moment out of her day volunteering at the Chavez Learning Station with Head Start KUSD to welcome you aboard the fulfilling journey of volunteerism. In as little as 8 hours a week, you too can help brighten the days of children in the Kenosha and Racine unified school districts. So please consider making “giving back your second act”, Volunteers help improve the lives of children as well as benefit from having a strong sense of purpose in their community. Many volunteers report finding friends, learning, and feeling satisfied.

There's still time to register for the February 18 Medicare Workshop! Are you going on Medicare? The ADRC offers monthly education for those new to Medicare and those wanting to learn more. We recommend attending a workshop 3-4 months before your Medicare starts, if possible. Join us Wednesday, February 18, 1 - 3 p.m., at the Kenosha County Job Center, 8600 Sheridan Road. Learn about four decisions you’ll need to make, including the basics of Medicare coverage, options for private health and drug coverage, and public benefits that can help with healthcare costs. The ADRC offers a Family Caregiver Support Group on the first Thursday of every month. Do you set up medication, run errands, make meals, handle finances, or drive for an adult who isn’t able to do so anymore? This group is for you! Join fellow caregivers as you share your experiences, ask questions and learn something new. Facilitated by Margaret Ricchio, Caregiver Support Specialist. The Ethnic Elders gathered today for their annual Black History Month celebration. The group was established in 1986 for the purpose of empowering older adults to stay connected within their community by remaining actively involved in healthy lifestyles, educational community programs, and inter-generational opportunities. The Ethnic Elders have over 60 members and meet monthly. This month members collected hygiene items to be donated to persons who are homeless.
