The Kenosha County ADRC's Dementia Specialist offers Memory Screens throughout the week, not just on Mondays! Memory screens can provide relief for individuals concerned about normal memory loss, lead to diagnosis of treatable conditions and offer the ability to make lifestyle changes early when they have the greatest potential for positive effect and the opportunity to participate in making future decisions. Screening results are not a diagnosis, and individuals who have concerns are encouraged to pursue a full medical exam. Family caregivers who are providing support for someone who has dementia, such as a loved one, neighbor, or friend meet first Wednesdays of every month, 10 - 11:30 a.m., to relax, chat, and learn something new. The meeting is facilitated by the ADRC's Dementia Care Specialist and is available in person, by video conferencing, or phone. The next meeting is April 1. Snow days can be particularly difficult for older adults and those living with a disability who depend on in-home caregivers for daily needs. Travel can often delay or even prevent a caregiver from getting to the home. Checking in on your neighbors on days like this can be extremely helpful.
