November is Family Caregiver Month. A time to celebrate and honor the selfless work of Family Caregivers. On November 19, the Kenosha County Caregiver Coalition gathered with Family Caregivers for their annual appreciation luncheon. The theme, Keep Smiling, was shared with thoughtful humor by former Governor and author of "My Two Elaines", Marty Schreiber. County Executive, Samantha Kerkman, also a family caregiver, proclaimed the month as Family Caregiver Month, honoring all caregivers in Kenosha County. Our heart-felt thanks to all those who give of themselves to care for family, friends, and neighbors.

Kenosha County ADRC offers Memory Screens, every Monday. Memory screens provide relief for individuals concerned about normal memory loss, lead to diagnosis of treatable conditions and offer the ability to make lifestyle changes early when they have the greatest potential for positive effect and the opportunity to participate in making future decisions. Screening results are not a diagnosis, and individuals who have concerns are encouraged to pursue a full medical exam. Appointments available, Mondays, 8 a.m. - noon. Please join the Kenosha County ADRC for a Memory Café on Tuesday, December 9, 1 - 2 p.m. Memory Café is a place for persons with Mild Cognitive Impairment, early-stage Alzheimer’s, or related dementia and their care partners to socialize and have fun. Memory Café meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month at the Kenosha Neighborhood Southwest Library, 7979 38th Avenue. Call the ADRC's Dementia Care Specialist to register at 262-605-6646.

The ADRC offers a Family Caregiver Support Group on the first Thursday of every month. Do you set up medication, run errands, make meals, handle finances, or drive for an adult who isn’t able to do so anymore? This group is for you! Join fellow caregivers as you share your experiences, ask questions and learn something new. Facilitated by Margaret Ricchio, Caregiver Support Specialist. Join the Caregiver Coffee Club! Fellow caregivers meet first Wednesday of every month, 10 - 11:30 a.m., to relax, chat, and learn something new.
