Mold isn’t as rare as we might think, and it isn’t always obvious that there's home exposure.
It can grow behind walls, under floors, or anywhere moisture lingers. And while many people think of mold as ā€œjust an allergy issue,ā€ for some kids, it acts as a constant stressor on the nervous system.
That matters because a nervous system under stress can’t regulate or heal well.
Here are a few things parents often notice:
āŒ Symptoms that don’t fully resolve with care
āŒ Kids who seem stuck in fight-or-flight
āŒ Sleep, immunity, or behavior struggles that don’t make sense
And the biggest clue: things improve when you're away from home
When mold exposure is removed and moisture issues are fixed, families often see meaningful progress because the nervous system is no longer fighting a hidden stressor 24/7.
Sometimes healing stalls not because care isn’t working, but because something in the environment is still in the way.
Wondering if mold could be part of your child’s picture?

Some days moms say,
ā€œI didn’t really get anything done today.ā€
But here’s what actually happened:
You fed little mouths, again and again.
You washed bottles. You pumped. You cleaned the toys up 1,000,000 times.
You held tiny bodies through naps that wouldn’t stick.
You rocked. You swayed. You soothed nervous systems that just needed safety.
You changed diapers.
You wiped spills.
You tried to eat while standing at the counter.
You tried to rest, even if rest didn’t come.
You showed up for adjustments.
You cared for your family’s nervous systems.
You felt joy.
You felt guilt.
And at the end of the day, with a tired body and a full heart,
You quietly thought,
ā€œI didn’t get much done.ā€
But you did.
You did the work that doesn’t show up on a to-do list, but matters more than anything else. ā™„ļø

Our Story

~ Dr. Davis founded Sozo Chiropractic in 2014. She is a Kenosha native. She graduated cm laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic after receiving her undergraduate degree from UW- Parkside. She is certified in both nutrition and the Webster Technique. The Webster Technique is a specific method of analysis and adjusting for women during pregnancy to allow optimal positioning of the baby. Dr. Davis is passionate about educating the community about the multitude of health benefits that Chiropractic care can bring to every member of the family.

~ Dr. Punita’s road to Sozo is an adventurous one! She was born in India and moved to St. John’s, Newfoundland at the age of 8. Dr. Punita went on to earn her doctorate in chiropractic at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, graduating in 2007. Dr. Punita is very passionate about chiropractic and the well being of each and every one of her patients. She takes great joy in helping every patient with an emphasis on guiding them to take a healthier and physically more productive path through their journey in life.

~ After a sports injury that could’ve ended her softball career, Dr. Shelby sought out the help of a chiropractor. After returning to play only a month after the injury, Dr. Shelby shadowed and explored chiropractic. Chiropractic offices were so inviting and felt like a family. While off for the summers in college, she spent time interning at offices and felt that the chiropractic life was the one for her. That is where she found her passion for families and especially kids. Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, Dr. Shelby received her Bachelor of Health Science from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She then continued her education at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa where she received her Doctor of Chiropractic degree in February of 2020. Her passion is working with kids of all ages and their families. She is moved to Kenosha with her husband, Aaron after getting married in June.
