In order to truly help someone on their unique health journey, it is important to connect with the individual to know what direction to point them. If you don’t feel connected to your healthcare provider, I encourage you to find someone who you can connect with.

When couples are looking for direction on what to do to support their fertility, they are referred to specialist to figure out what needs to be done to get pregnant. From what I have observed, medical fertility clinics often offer a limited approach as it doesn’t address what is needed to stay pregnant or how to prepare for the journey of parenthood. This is where our approach is unique. I have been trained to not only to figure out what direction to focus on with setting health goals, but also how to support the couple through the pregnancy into parenthood.

If this is something that interests you, don’t hesitate to send us a DM so we can help support you on your journey. Looking forward to meeting you!

Releasing a tie changes structure, but feeding, breathing, and regulation are neurological and whole-body processes. Without support, some babies may struggle to fully integrate the change.
Care beyond the release itself matters. Here are the side effects of releasing ties without chiropractic adjustments:

1️⃣ Increased tension or guarding
After a release, some babies compensate by tightening other areas of the body — especially the neck, jaw, shoulders, or pelvis — making it harder to relax and feed comfortably.

2️⃣ Feeding challenges that persist
Even with a “successful” release, latch issues, clicking, reflux, or fatigue can continue if the nervous system hasn’t learned how to coordinate the new movement.

3️⃣ Heightened stress response
A release is a big sensory experience. Without nervous system support, some babies may show increased fussiness, startle responses, or difficulty settling and sleeping.

4️⃣ Oral aversion or resistance
Resistance to stretches, latching, or oral work isn’t behavioral — it’s often a protective nervous system response when the body feels overwhelmed.

5️⃣ Compensation instead of coordination
The tongue may have more range, but true feeding requires coordination between the tongue, jaw, neck, diaphragm, and breath — not just mobility.

6️⃣ Incomplete functional improvement

Sometimes anatomy looks improved, but parents still notice feeding stress, reflux, digestive and sleep struggles, or slow progress because function and regulation haven’t fully caught up.

The goal isn’t just release, it’s integration.
Supporting the nervous system helps the body adapt, coordinate, and heal more effectively.

Many moms who are told they're “high-risk” for pre-eclampsia are confused about why this is happening and what they can do to prevent it. Keep reading or send this to an expecting mom friend. 🤍
Pre-eclampsia is usually more about how the nervous system is responding to stress when we break it down to the root.
🚗 Gas pedal = stress and alert mode
🚗 Brake pedal = rest, growth, and healing mode
Pregnancy asks your body to spend more time on the brake pedal side so blood vessels can soften, your heart can adapt, and your baby can grow. When stress has been running the show for a long time, it can make those shifts harder for the body to access.
That’s why research shows ongoing maternal stress is strongly linked to a higher risk of pre-eclampsia. 📊
When the nervous system feels supported and safe, the body is often able to do what it was designed to do better during such a special time in life. 🥹 That best news? That's our specialty at Sozo Chiropractic. Moms deserve answers that feel empowering, not scary. 💗

Our Story

~ Dr. Davis founded Sozo Chiropractic in 2014. She is a Kenosha native. She graduated cm laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic after receiving her undergraduate degree from UW- Parkside. She is certified in both nutrition and the Webster Technique. The Webster Technique is a specific method of analysis and adjusting for women during pregnancy to allow optimal positioning of the baby. Dr. Davis is passionate about educating the community about the multitude of health benefits that Chiropractic care can bring to every member of the family.

~ Dr. Punita’s road to Sozo is an adventurous one! She was born in India and moved to St. John’s, Newfoundland at the age of 8. Dr. Punita went on to earn her doctorate in chiropractic at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, graduating in 2007. Dr. Punita is very passionate about chiropractic and the well being of each and every one of her patients. She takes great joy in helping every patient with an emphasis on guiding them to take a healthier and physically more productive path through their journey in life.

~ After a sports injury that could’ve ended her softball career, Dr. Shelby sought out the help of a chiropractor. After returning to play only a month after the injury, Dr. Shelby shadowed and explored chiropractic. Chiropractic offices were so inviting and felt like a family. While off for the summers in college, she spent time interning at offices and felt that the chiropractic life was the one for her. That is where she found her passion for families and especially kids. Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, Dr. Shelby received her Bachelor of Health Science from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She then continued her education at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa where she received her Doctor of Chiropractic degree in February of 2020. Her passion is working with kids of all ages and their families. She is moved to Kenosha with her husband, Aaron after getting married in June.
