Hello friends of Impact!

This Saturday we at Impact are putting on a youth-lead fundraiser benefitting The ECLA Outreach Center in Kenosha and The LGBTQ Center of SE Wisconsin in Racine at the Kenosha Creative Space from 5-10 pm.

There will be food, live music, karaoke, a raffle and activities for kids of all ages! This is a family friendly event, so bring your friends and family with for a great time! $5 donation upon entry OR a donation item listed below.

We have survived as a species by learning what is dangerous and encoding it as a memory. We use symbolic learning, if this is true, then so is this. It allows us to short cut things. This is how we are teaching AI to learn as well by the way- it’s that effective.

👶A baby can’t rationalize or reason- their cortex isn’t formed. So if they are crying for 5 minutes and have 6 million new neurons forming and connecting from that experience to make a memory in the form of a felt experience, meaning there are no words for this, it is heavily informing us and how we perceive the world. (Think of getting emotional as an adult and how much that is impacting you with only a few hundred neurons forming vs thousands!)

If this kind of thing happens frequently enough, especially in the first 9 months of life the baby is forming memories that they can feel, but not speak to. The “beliefs” or felt encoded learnings would sound like:
➡️I must not be good enough.
➡️I am not worthy of love and care.
➡️I am going to distract myself because these feelings are too much.

🧠Neurons that fire together wire together. This serves as the foundation for sabotage and not feeling like you deserve to care for yourself in various ways.

You learn you can’t rely on relationships for regulation and balance.
This means you attach to other processes to regulate and balance that have costs like overworking, overeating, drinking, ma********ng, gaming, shopping, etc.

🌟You can change this as an adult, not nearly as quickly as it was encoded since we only get to link 700 new neurons on a good day. This is why we need consistent, slow and daily intention and focus to make big changes.
