Final week of International Food & Wine Month!

Our Culinary Passport landed in West Africa this week, where residents at Modena Reserve Kensington enjoyed a rich West African stew, full of bold flavors and comforting traditions.

Team member Hemayeth was happy to pose with the dish, showing how much our staff enjoyed bringing these global flavors to life.

From Nepal to El Salvador, France, and now West Africa, which destination has been your favorite this month?

This Women’s History Month, we honor Lorraine, a woman whose story reminds us that empowerment isn’t always loud. Sometimes, it’s found in the way you live, love, and grow.

Lorraine gently turns the pages of her photo album, each image holding a story of a life built on love, resilience, and quiet strength.

She was a young girl when the world changed during WWII, growing up with a deep sense of independence, curiosity, and compassion. These values were shaped by her parents and carried through every chapter of life.

Years later, she built a beautiful life of her own: a 49-year marriage, 10 children, 23 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. A legacy not just of family, but of presence, patience, and purpose.

“Every day was an adventure,” she says with a smile.

And she means it, from raising her children to later traveling the world, embracing each day with curiosity.

To Lorraine, strength was never about standing still. “Strength is being flexible and adaptable… willing to change with the times.”

Cheers to connection and maybe a little extra luck this season. ☘️

Our St. Patrick’s Day Happy Hour brought residents together for festive drinks, great conversation, and plenty of Irish cheer. A special guest musician filled the room with lively fiddle tunes.

Fun fact: Did you know the Irish Washerwoman Jig actually has lyrics?

Memory Care residents enjoyed an international cookie tasting- sampling sweet treats from around the world and sharing stories along the way.

Because sometimes joy is found in the simplest (and sweetest) experiences.

Our culinary passport brings us to El Salvador this week.

Food & Wine Around the World Month continues at Modena Reserve Kensington, bringing new international flavors to the table each week.

This week, Chef Douglas, who is from El Salvador, shared a taste of his home country with residents. The menu featured traditional corn tortilla pupusas filled with pork and cheese, served with Salvadoran-style pickled coleslaw (curtido) and tomato salsa.

Food is a wonderful way to experience different cultures, and it’s always special when our culinary team can share dishes that are meaningful to them.

Have you ever tried pupusas before?

This Women’s History Month, we proudly celebrate Annmarie, a Modena Reserve Kensington resident whose lifetime of service inspires us all.

Born in 1930, Annmarie has dedicated decades to helping others. She volunteered with the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, earning a rare Lifetime Service Award, served abroad with the Peace Corps at age 70, and read children’s letters in the First Lady’s office at the White House.

When asked what she is most proud of, she answered simply: “My volunteer work.”

Celebrating International Food & Wine Month, residents at Modena Reserve Kensington are exploring global cuisine and the stories behind each dish.

This week’s destination: Nepal.

Sous Chef Raj prepared a comforting Himalayan Chicken Stew, inspired by the flavors of his home country, served alongside Mediterranean flatbread for residents to enjoy. Every meal is an opportunity to experience something new.

Which country’s cuisine would you love to try?

Some things never go out of style- music, movement, and joy.

As "Dancing Through Life" filled the room, residents took to the floor for our Dance of the Decades, where every song carries a memory and every step tells a story.

Because the rhythm never retires.
