Urges are a normal part of quitting or reducing substance use. They can feel intense, but they usually rise, peak, and pass. Just like a wave.
Urge Surfing is the practice of noticing an urge without immediately acting on it. Try pausing, breathing, and asking: Where do I feel this in my body? What am I needing right now? What happens if I wait 10 minutes?
You don’t have to fight the wave. You can ride it out.
