According to Neil Parikh, M.D., with Connecticut GI and chair of the innovation committee with GI Alliance, there are two main variables to consider when it comes to meat and your gut health:

Saturated fat content, and how highly processed it is.

Ultra-processed, high–saturated fat meats are the worst for gut health.

Think bacon, sausage, baloney, pepperoni.
