Muggsy says anatomy matters.

This week our new day class practiced drawing the skeletal system and identifying bony landmarks. Understanding structure builds confidence in assessment and palpation.

Before you can treat effectively, you have to know exactly what you are touching.

Strong foundations create skilled therapists.

Muscle of the Week: Gluteus Maximus

The powerhouse of the posterior chain.

Your gluteus maximus is the primary hip extensor, driving movements like standing up, climbing stairs, sprinting, and lifting. It also assists in external rotation and helps stabilize the pelvis during movement.

When this muscle isn’t firing properly, the hamstrings and low back often try to compensate.

Strong glutes = better movement mechanics.
Weak glutes = compensation patterns.

Study it. Palpate it. Understand it.

πŸ‘‰ If you are considering a career in massage therapy, we would love to talk.

Muscle of the Week: Hamstrings

Posterior chain power.

Your hamstrings flex the knee, extend the hip, and play a huge role in controlling movement during walking, running, and sprinting. They don’t just create motion, they decelerate it.

Tight? Weak? Overworked?
These three muscles (biceps femoris, semitendinosus, semimembranosus) often tell the story of pelvic stability and low back comfort.

Study it. Palpate it. Understand it.

Whether you are in school, building a business, or chasing a new goal, progress rarely happens all at once. It is built in early mornings, long days, steady practice, and the decision to keep going.

At Synergy Wellness Academy, we see it every week. Growth comes from showing up, doing the work, and trusting the process.

Keep taking the next step. It all adds up.πŸ‘‰ DM us for more details about the school, tuition, and upcoming courses!

Muscle of the Week: Soleus

This deep calf muscle works hard when you stand, walk, or climb stairs. It is especially active when your knee is bent and plays a key role in balance and endurance.

Students, save this for study. Follow along each week as we highlight another muscle.

πŸ’™ Calling our local LMT community β€” this one’s for you.

One of the ways we build confident, skilled future therapists at Synergy Wellness Academy is by inviting licensed massage therapists into our student clinic for LMT Evaluations.

This is a chance for you to receive a FREE 60-minute student massage session, and in return, we ask for your honest professional feedback through an evaluation afterward. Your insight helps shape how we teach, how our students grow, and how we continue raising the standard of care in our profession.

But this is also our chance to say thank you.
To the LMTs who have supported us since day one β€” through evaluations like this, Google and MassageBook reviews, social shares, referrals, and simply believing in what we’re building β€” we see you and we are incredibly grateful.

- Next LMT Evaluation Night: Thursday, February 26
- Session Times: 6:30 PM or 8:00 PM

If you’ve ever wanted to help shape the next generation of therapists while receiving great bodywork in the process, we’d love to have you join us.
