Dr. Jessica Tao is a medical oncologist specializing in the care of patients with breast cancer. She co-leads the Cancer Center-wide Johns Hopkins Molecular Tumor Board, a multidisciplinary effort to interpret complex genomic information and provide individualized, precision oncology treatment recommendations to patients with all types of cancer.
In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Tao maintains an active clinical-translational research program dedicated to developing novel treatments to patients with advanced cancer. Her expertise and research focuses on finding and targeting the molecular changes that drive a person’s tumor and understanding novel mechanisms of response and resistance to targeted therapies. A second major area of her research is development and application of “liquid biopsy” technologies, including circulating tumor DNA, in the early detection and disease monitoring of breast cancer.
