Kerrville Area Parkinson's Disease Support Group

Kerrville Area Parkinson's Disease Support Group Parkinson's Support Group Meets the 1st Wednesday of the month 4 - 5 pm
@ Peterson Hospice & Ho

Parkinson’s disease affects the entire family - father, mother, daughter, son, husband, wife, friend; and an extended community of friends and loved ones. If you are affected by Parkinson’s or are the care partner to a person with Parkinson’s, you juggle many new roles and are fast becoming familiar with the challenges that come with living with the disease. Our support group offers a comfortable setting each month where members and caregivers can ask questions, share experiences, and create friendships. Each meeting offers a guest presenter and we will share educational materials and resources to help you and the person you are caring for. No representations, guarantees or warranties are made with regard to the completeness, accuracy, fitness, effectiveness or applicability of any information or advice detailed within this website and/or given during any support group sessions; nor is any representation, guarantee or warranty made regarding outcomes achieved by applying the strategies, information and advice provided herein. Please consult your doctor before implementing anything presented on this website.

I love this book!
Chapter One…Not Just the Muscles
Chapter Two…Resources for the Journey
Chapter Three…Parkinson’s, the Thief
A great resource for Caregivers, whether you’re new at this or in the trenches (like Debbie, Melanie and me). I wish I had read this book 18 years ago.

We installed these stander poles next to my husband’s bed and near his shower. The poles have been a help to stabilize and prevent falls. Available at Kerrville Medical Supply and Amazon. We did not drill holes in ceiling or floor. They are very stable. Janet Hooper

Updates for the BIG and LOUD for life class. If you have completed the LSVT BIG and/or LOUD at any point (whether here or another facility), you are eligible to come to this class. If you feel it has been too long since you have completed this course or have stopped doing the exercises, it would be good to get a new order from your doctor to have an evaluation/screen to see if you need a tune-up/refresher course with an LSVT BIG or LOUD therapist or if you can start with this wellness program. We are happy to offer this class 2x/per month now! Here are the details:
When: 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month prior to the support group meeting.
Time: 3-4 pm
Where: Home Care and Hospice Building 250 Cully Drive, 2nd Floor Wellness Center, Bennack-Polan Fitness Studio, same as support group meeting building
Cost: $5 per/class (credit or debit card only), if you are currently a wellness member this class is complimentary, or a punch card option: $20 for 6 classes (pay for 4 classes and get 2 classes free).
Please send Devin Sebek, OTR, (Dsebek@petersonhealth.com) a response email to let her know if you would like to continue to receive email reminders for the BIG for Life class. Peterson is working to improve and grow our Parkinson's wellness programs to benefit as many as possible. Please reach out if you have any questions, comments or concerns.
