So true!!
Christmas hits different when you realize your parents once stayed up all night to give you the magic you now try to recreate.
The lights.
The wrapping paper.
The cookies that somehow disappeared overnight.
All those little details you thought “just happened.”
Now you’re the one staying up late, wrapping gifts in secret, whispering to your partner to hide the stockings, trying not to wake the kids while you tape the last bow.
And suddenly, you get it.
You understand why they looked so tired in the Christmas photos.
Why the coffee pot was always half empty.
Why the house still smelled like cinnamon rolls before sunrise.
Because they were doing exactly what you’re doing now.. creating memories out of thin air, fueled by love and caffeine.
And maybe that’s the most magical part of Christmas.
Not Santa.
Not the gifts.
But realizing the magic was never imaginary.
It was your parents all along.
And now… it’s you.
