My husband Joel Hodgson was diagnosed with Stage IV Adenocarcinoma Esophageal Cancer on 7/30/22.

Please all say a prayer for my sweet, funny, musical, loving, talented, creative, caring, 💜 of my life, husband of 26 years and 24 days , Joel. He is not doing so well. Please pray for comfort, peace and protection. Hes always saud he feels prayers. Thank you to all of our friends and family. We love you all. I’d add a picture if I could bring myself to look at any. But right now, I just can’t. 💔🙏🏻❌⭕️❌⭕️🙌🏼

Wow, what a ride. Updating you all finally! The VERY good news, Joel gets a treatment break. His scans are great, responded well to treatment and it’s been literally 2 years of chemo. They are giving him time off. We will go back for a pet scan in 8 weeks.
He did get a couple of blood clots that formed in his lungs, likely due to chemo so hopefully meds and his body getting time off will resolve. But here we are! We both are so thankful and ecstatic to get here. To all of you, the support is amazing and we so appreciate our family and friends.

One more time, going to post this pain my asssss chair. We have had so much going on I haven’t had time to take it to the furniture consignment place. Hoping someone will be interested and pickup by this weekend. I swear this chair, not used at all, I will say “like new” just because we’ve had it since December but nobody uses it or sits in it at all. It is really nice design and functional, with bells and whistles. Automatic controls with USB. Just didn’t work in our living room. $150 w local pickup, cannot deliver… purchased for $649.

Hi all, sorry for not posting updates. I’ll start with the good part. Joel’s scans are now coming back clean. That spot on the liver is even smaller and they think is nothing. He’s still doing treatment/ chemo til approximately til May /June.

Sadly, Flossie, Joel’s mom is being cared for by Hospice in her home. It’s definitely getting more intense and she is transitioning. It’s been pretty tough on Joel. Please pray for him and her for strength. Also for Cy,his son/daughter in law and daughter Connie, Greg and Karen, who have been amazing!!! My dad is in the hospital with abdominal problems that need fixed stat! He is very resilient as most of you know. 🙏🏻It’s been a lot but we are hanging in there. Thank you all for your support though this, we appreciate you guys!

I got a strange message. It said FB is going to cancel this page due to fraudulent activity. Sooo I don’t know. I know I haven’t posted in a long while. Joel’s well. His mom Flossie is really having some health issues sadly. Please send prayers her way. We both appreciate you all. Hope the New Year is going well for all of you. Will keep things posted when he has his next scan on Jan 30th!!! ❌⭕️❌⭕️💜🍾🍾🍾

Hey all! It’s been a long time since I’ve posted but we’ve had yet another amazing scan! Joel responds really well to chemo, there’s zero additional spread, and the original site it’s all gone still. He’s def had some physical side effects pop up but nothing he can’t handle. We continue to be positive and as always thank you all for the prayers and support. As Joel would say ❌⭕️❌⭕️🙌🏼🙏🏻

Ok guys, I know it’s been forever that I’ve updated. So things have been going pretty well. We got a break, went on vaca to the Keys. Resumed treatment since. So tomorrow is scan day. Then results appointment Monday, which means I’ll be reading/translating the MyChart like the so-so oncologist I think I am on likely the 4th of July. I’ve been nothing short of a psychopath, well basically I’m a actual short psychopath, scanxiety!!!! Bless anyone who’s spoken to me or been around me. Jk, not that bad, catch me on Wednesday though, 😂unless I read it’s gone and you guys are freeeee. Joel’s of course fine and excited to get results lol. His mind carries him through this, I swear. So any and all prayers would be great. Will update! Thank you all! ❌⭕️❌⭕️💜🙏🏻

Joel is home, doing much better. Have to take it easy. However he takes 4 prednisone tomorrow to start the day. Good lord. That’ll be fun! 😬 hey guys, don’t EVER EVER EVER get pneumonia. It suuuuuckssss! Thank you all for checking in and the prayers. 💜❌⭕️

Ok guys, it’s been tricky. Got really scary. But I’m updating. Two trips to the ER, second by squad yesterday. But the amazing news is he’s doing so, so much better. He ate a bunch today. He’s breathing normal. Well let’s say better. Lungs are inflamed by what we think immunotherapy reaction. Being well taken care of, on the right meds now and calming those inflamed lungs down. Good vibes and prayers have been the best. We appreciate. 🙏🏻💜❌⭕️

Hey guys, so Joely had to come to the ER/ Southview. He just wasn’t really getting better. But seems like they will treat him with a bunch of fluids, broad spectrum antibiotics and whatever else gets this party started. We both are drained. He didn’t want to stay , who does, but knows it’s what’s best to get him well. Prayers, good mojo etc please! Xo to you all! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❌⭕️

I know he looks like a mummy, he’s fine, just snoozing.
Possible infection, fever, stupid immunotherapy rash, high pulse, GRRRRRR. Please just send alllll the good prayers, positive thoughts, vibes, for a noooo overnight stay at the hospital. And that it’s just minor. He wants to gooooo home.
