🐾 A Happy Tail from One Lincoln Park! 🐾
On Monday, we got a call about a lost dog spotted near our community. Our Executive Director, Tricia Atwood, jumped right into action and found the poor pup—tired, scared, and all alone. She brought him inside, gave him some comfort, and we got to work trying to find where he belonged.

A quick look at a local Kettering Facebook group did the trick! We found a post from his worried owner and learned his name was Klaus. Within just 20 minutes, the pup and his owner were happily reunited.

We’re so glad we could help bring this sweet pup home. As a pet-friendly community, moments like these remind us how special the bond between people and their pets truly is. It’s always a good day when neighbors—and furry friends—come together! 💛

One Lincoln Park is a proud supporter of Discover Classical 881., 89.1, 89.9, Dayton’s 24-hour classical radio station. Our Business Development Director, Molly Blumer, attended the Clark J. Haines Annual donor luncheon which is named for the founder of the station, Clark J. Haines. Molly remembers as a teenager being a part of the NCR concert band when Clark Haines took the baton to direct the band during summer concerts at Old River. One Lincoln Park is honored to be part of the Dayton community that supports the vision that Clark Haines had back in 1985 and that it continues to flourish today. Shaun Yu made a special announcement about the plans for the next movement in the station’s future. This involves a relocation campaign which will allow the station to relocate to space that will meet the current and future needs of the station. 🇩🇪 Oktoberfest at One Lincoln Park! 🍺
Prost! We had an amazing time celebrating Oktoberfest here at One Lincoln Park with our residents and prospective residents! Everyone enjoyed a delicious spread of German favorites — bratwurst and kraut, German potato salad, chicken schnitzel, and delicious apple strudels from Ashley’s Bakery — all paired perfectly with a variety of authentic German beers. 🍻

The fun continued with lively accordion music, Oktoberfest trivia, and of course, the classic Chicken Dance!

🌟 Resident Spotlight: Harvey Guthridge 🌟
Harvey is the oldest living retired Dayton Police Officer at 99 years old. We have the honor of sharing about his remarkable life with everyone reading this post.

Born in Indiana in 1926, Harvey attended school in Evansville and graduated high school in 1943. Shortly after, he joined the Army Air Corps, proudly serving his country until his honorable discharge in 1945.

After trying his hand at the NCR field office in Evansville, Harvey decided that wasn’t the career for him — and joined the Dayton Police Department. He served from 1949 to 1977, working patrol duty, records and training, and later in the crime lab. Following his retirement, he continued to share his expertise part-time at the Miami Valley Regional Crime Lab.

Harvey moved to One Lincoln Park in 2024 and has called it home for nearly two years. He appreciates the many amenities available, especially the dining room and transportation services — though he enjoys cooking in his “nicely furnished kitchen,” too! A man of many interests, Harvey has always enjoyed photography, boating, traveling, camping, and gardening.

When asked what he’d tell someone considering a move here, Harvey didn’t hesitate:
“One Lincoln Park is a great place to live. The entire staff is great. You’ll have access to everything you might need — dining, entertainment, medical staff on duty 24/7, and transportation. It’s definitely a safe place to live and make friends.”

Harvey’s favorite meal is a juicy rib eye steak with mashed potatoes and a glass of wine, but he also enjoys donuts, fruit, and coffee with “Tunes with Tony” on Tuesdays. One of his favorite memories since moving in was last year’s New Year’s Eve party — a perfect reflection of the lively community spirit here at One Lincoln Park.
