Today we’re shining a special light on our resident, Chuck.

Chuck came to us during a difficult season in his life, needing rehabilitation following a below-knee amputation. During that time, he faced many challenges — including not having a working phone. The inability to easily communicate with his friends or take care of personal matters was incredibly hard for him.

We are so happy to share that Chuck was recently able to get a phone, restoring his connection to the people who mean so much to him. The smile on his face says it all — he has never looked happier.

Moments like this remind us how important connection, independence, and support truly are. We are so proud of Chuck and honored to be part of his journey.

Yesterday, we celebrated our amazing Maintenance Director, Greg Moore — and it’s even more special because it was also his birthday! 🎉

Happy Maintenance Director Week to our true “unsung hero.” Greg’s dedication to safety and the daily operations of Kewaunee Health Services keeps everything running smoothly for our staff and residents. No matter the time of day, Greg shows up whenever he is needed. His reliability, commitment, and heart for this building truly set him apart.

He has formed so many meaningful relationships with both staff and residents, and he is such a special part of our team. We truly can’t believe how lucky we are to have him.

While we officially recognize him this week, we believe Maintenance Directors deserve appreciation every single day.

Rick came to our facility from Green Bay for a short-term rehabilitation stay. During his time with us, Rick was a pleasure to care for and worked collaboratively with the Interdisciplinary Team toward his recovery goals. Although his stay was brief, he made meaningful progress and demonstrated the ability to safely return home.

Upon discharge, Rick expressed sincere appreciation for the care he received, stating that everyone was “wonderful” and that the staff were “living proof that you do care.” He shared that his stay was a “wonderful experience” and thanked the team “from the bottom, top, and sides” of his heart, adding that he truly asked God to bless all who cared for him. He noted that he “can’t thank you all enough” and shared his gratitude as he prepared to return home.

It is always rewarding to see residents regain strength and independence, and Rick’s successful transition home reflects both his dedication to rehabilitation and the commitment of the care team. We wish him continued health and success as he returns to his home and community.

We are spreading the love for Valentine's Day! Residents and staff shared the name of their Valentines this year. Who is your special someone? ♥

We would like to celebrate Shirley, who has made tremendous progress since coming to Kewaunee Health Services for care.

When she arrived, Shirley had very little movement below her neck. Shirley’s environment had to be adapted using a sensor call light since her only movement was a flicker of her hand. Our entire team was diligent and attentive to Shirley - she was never without assistance when needed, through frequent checks, increased supervision, and other measures. Shirley graduated from her sensor call light with determination, strength, pain, tears, and triumph.

The next accomplishment was using a soft touch call pad. Without a doubt, Shirley took on a newfound independence before our eyes, such as taking her first bite on her own. Today, we got to hug Shirley as she was standing! What a blessing - a blessing that we all had no idea how much we needed.

We would like to celebrate one more individual, who is far too modest for pictures, her devoted husband Joe. We could not have done it without him. Joe is Shirley's biggest supporter, and ours too.

Our entire team is thankful for the support, care, humor, and joy, just to name a few, that Joe and Shirley bring to our facility. ❤

Angie has been part of our nursing home family for over 15 years, and her dedication truly shines every single day. She brings endless smiles, laughter, and joy to our residents and makes our facility feel like home.

Whether she’s playing cards, hosting trivia games, or simply spending quality time with residents, Angie has a special way of connecting with everyone and making each day brighter. Her passion for life enrichment and genuine care for our residents does not go unnoticed.
