Hernias: plan ahead, avoid heavy lifting, and know the nearest ER—small strains can make symptoms worse.
Gallbladder: repeat attacks + travel = risky combo. If you’ve had attacks, talk to your surgeon; flying during an acute attack can worsen pain.
After surgery: biggest risk is blood clots in the first 4–6 weeks. Walk, hydrate, and do calf pumps.
General timelines:
• Fly 4–10 days after hernia repair (if cleared)
• Fly 4–5 days after laparoscopic gallbladder surgery (if cleared)
