On Friday, April 3rd, staff at Potomac Valley Hospital were honored to raise the Center for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE) flag in recognition of National Donate Life Month—a time dedicated to raising awareness about the life-saving impact of organ, tissue, and cornea donation.
This meaningful moment served as a tribute to donors, recipients, and the families who make the generous decision to give the gift of life. Hospital staff were joined by CORE representatives, whose presence helped highlight the vital role their organization plays in facilitating organ donation and transplantation throughout the region.
CORE works closely with hospitals and communities to educate the public, support donor families, and ensure that every possible opportunity for donation is honored.
National Donate Life Month, observed each April, encourages individuals to register as organ donors and to have conversations with their loved ones about their wishes. More than 100,000 people in the United States are currently waiting for a transplant, and one donor can save up to eight lives and enhance many more through tissue donation.
The flag-raising ceremony at PVH was not only a symbol of hope, but also a powerful reminder of the compassion and generosity that organ donation represents. 💙
