Grateful for a native plant nursery walk with herbalist Maria!🌿🤍
We’ve been focusing a lot of energy on cultivating native plants and learning their ecological and medicinal uses with care. Approaching this work as ongoing students learning, cultivating, and sharing with respect.
Native plants highlighted 🤍
ʻUhaloa :: traditionally used in Hawaiian herbal practices to support the respiratory system, especially coughs and throat irritation.
ʻAkio Hala :: noted for its antimicrobial properties; different parts of the plant were used externally and internally with guidance.
Mountain ʻIlima :: valued for its resilience and historically used in remedies for general strength and recovery.
ʻUlei :: a hardy native shrub; leaves were used in topical applications and as a durable plant material.
ʻĀkia :: historically used in very specific ways, including as a fish poison.
Māmaki :: commonly prepared as a mineral-rich tea; traditionally used to support digestion and overall wellness.
ʻŌhiʻa Lehua :: an ecologically vital sacred native tree; flowers and leaves were used in teas, often for respiratory support.
