Banana Oatmeal Bars🍌 are a deliciously wholesome snack that perfectly combines the sweetness of ripe bananas with hearty oats. These easy-to-make bars are not only great for breakfast but also serve as a satisfying treat any time of day. With just one bowl needed for preparation, you can enjoy a guilt-free indulgence that can be customized with your favorite mix-ins like nuts or chocolate chips. Whip up these delightful bars for a nutritious pick-me-up that will keep you energized!

Ingredients
• 3 ripe bananas (about 1 ½ cups mashed)
• 2 cups rolled oats
• 1/3 cup honey or pure maple syrup
• 2 large eggs
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
2. In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
3. Add rolled oats, honey or maple syrup, eggs, baking powder, and vanilla extract; stir until well combined.
4. Grease an 8 x 8-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
5. Pour the mixture into the prepared dish and spread it evenly.
6. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Let cool for at least ten minutes before slicing into squares.

Nathan Martin—Motion Studios’s GYROTONIC® Master Trainer and all-around movement virtuoso—is now offering YOGA at the Middlesex Family YMCA!

Nathan is the founder and owner of CAPITAL GYROTONIC® in Washington, DC (est. 2013). A former ballet dancer and alumnus of the Joffrey Ballet School, he began his GYROTONIC® and yoga journey in 2002 at NYC’s oldest GYROTONIC® studio, Studio Riverside. Nathan is a certified GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® Master Trainer and has been RYT®-200 Yoga certified since 2014.

🧘‍♂️Classes are included with your YMCA membership.
🎟️Non-members are welcome with a $15 day pass which gives you access to the entire YMCA!
📍First time at the Middlesex YMCA? There are two buildings—please check in at the main building to sign the liability waiver and pay before heading to the program center.

Struggling to maintain your weight? You’re not alone💜

Emerging research suggests that sound frequencies—like those produced by Tibetan singing bowls—may influence how our cells respond, including the way the body forms fat cells. In studies, precursor fat cells exposed to sound vibrations were less likely to become fat-storing cells, and those that did held significantly less fat.

Beyond the science, a singing bowl meditation can also encourage greater mindfulness—helping you tune in to your body, make more conscious food choices, and develop a healthier relationship with eating. Sometimes, balance begins with simply slowing down and listening.

Delicious, chopped kale salad made with fluffy quinoa, Brussel sprouts, apples, cranberries, red onion, walnuts and pomegranate seeds all tossed with an amazing vinaigrette. Vegan, gluten free and the best colorful make-ahead salad everyone will love!❤️🥗💚

Salad Ingredients
• 1 bunch dark leafy kale (about 4 cups chopped)
• 1 cup thinly sliced brussel sprouts
• 1 cup cooked quinoa (cooled)
• 1 cup sliced apple
• ½ cup thinly sliced red onion
• ¼ cup chopped walnuts
• ¼ cup pumpkin seeds
• ¼ cup pomegranate seeds

Dressing Ingredients
• 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
• 1 ½ tbsp apple cider vinegar
• 1 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
• 1 tbsp maple syrup
• ¼ tsp kosher salt
• ¼ tsp ground black pepper
• ½ cup extra virgin olive oil

Directions:
1. Prep the kale by rinsing it well then run it thought the salad spinner to remove any excess moisture. You can also place it in a clean kitchen towel and shake it over a bowl. Then roll it up in long bunches and slice through it so you get nice thin, long strands of kale. This makes it easier to eat and digest. Place the kale into a large bowl, sprinkle it with lemon juice and a pinch of salt and massage it with your hands for 30-60 seconds to break it down.
2. Make the dressing: Add all dressing ingredients to a mason jar and shake well to fully emulsify.
3. Add the rest of the salad ingredients to the large bowl with the kale.
4. Pour the dressing onto the salad and toss. Serve cold.

With tender butternut squash caramelized to perfection, crunchy pumpkin seeds for texture, and a sprinkle of tangy feta, this Butternut Squash Quinoa salad is a deliciously nutritious option that’s also gluten-free. Plus, it’s a breeze to whip up, whether you’re looking to impress guests or simply enjoy a comforting meal at home.

Salad Ingredients
• 1 cup quinoa (can substitute with brown rice)
• 1 medium butternut squash, cubed
• 1 cup pomegranate seeds
• 1/2 cup dried Cranberries (or swap in raisins)
• 1/4 cup pumpkin seeds (any nut or seed can be used)
• 1/2 cup feta Cheese
• 1/4 cup fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped
• 2 medium shallots, sliced thin

Dressing Ingredients
• 3 tablespoons high-quality extra virgin olive oil
• 2 tablespoons vinegar—balsamic or apple cider

Directions:
1. Preheat your oven to 400°.
2. Peel and cube the butternut squash, then toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Spread it out on a baking sheet and roast for 25-30 minutes.
3. Rinse quinoa thoroughly under cold water, then toast it in a dry pan over medium heat for 2-3 minutes.
4. Add rinsed quinoa to a pot with 2 cups of water, bring to a boil, then lower heat and simmer for about 15 minutes until fluffy.
5. In a large bowl, combine quinoa, roasted butternut squash, pomegranate seeds, dried cranberries, pumpkin seeds, parsley, shallots, and feta. Mix gently.
6. Drizzle olive oil and vinegar over the salad, toss gently to combine and adjust seasoning as needed.
7. Let the salad rest for at least 10 minutes before serving.
