Today marks one year since I received the incredible gift of a kidney, thanks to the generosity of my living donor Jennifer Lynn and my paired exchange donor Candy Rodgers . I am deeply grateful for their selfless acts, which have given me a second chance at a healthy life.
This past year has been remarkable, filled with renewed health and joy.
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to my medical team at UC Health, my friends and my family for their unwavering support. I am truly blessed to have you all in my life.

Since I received a kidney from a living donor, we are hosting a Donate Life event to help inform everyone about the need for organ donation. I will be sharing my experince of being a recipient and my donors sharing theirs about donation process, please attend everyone is welcome!

Day 3 and I am being discharged. 🎉🎉. I will be stationed at a hotel across the street from the hospital. I have clinics that I have to go to 3 times a week while they keep track of my anti rejection drug levels until they get everything adjusted. Following about two weeks here, I’ll move to Castle Rock to stay with my brother and his wife for about 2 weeks, during that time I will need to go for clinics about 1-2 times a week. Then around 6 weeks they will release me to go back home. Everything is going great. I continue to be blessed by those who are here (Brianna Matthes and Brian Jones) and the hospital staff at UC Health Anschutz for the amazing care that I am receiving. I also continues to keep my donor in my prayers. 🙏🏻

Day 2 of Recovery!
I’m using this quote picture because I did not want to start any new trends with my fabulous bed head. 🤣

Things are going well, my transplant team along with students were in and said things continue to improve. My labs look good and continue I to move fluid better than expected. The next meeting will be with the head of transplant, he will be here around 10. Then I have another day of training with various other departments to help with getting my diet adjusted along with getting my insulin pump adjusted to take care if the additional prednisone that I will be taking for the next several weeks. Then some people to make sure my mental health is good, I’m sure that person will need their own counseling after they are done talking to me. 😆. Seriously, things are great, I just continue to be thankful for the generous donation someone has made to me. I promise to take the best care of this gift I can for my donor. 🙏🏻. Thanks for everyone’s continued support and prayers. 😊

Day one of recovery! I am so blessed and am thankful for all of the prayers from everyone. The kidney started working as soon as it was hooked up, all my labs are starting to readjust to a more normal level. They will get me up to walk later, they want me to move around as much as possible. I will also see many different people today, some for training and some to just check up on me. I pray 🙏🏻 that my donor is doing well with their recovery. Without this gift, my life would be drastically different. May god always bless that person 🤣

Your support has been a source of strength throughout this challenging time.

This is how I spend Saturday morning hooked to Hannibal Lector! It really isn’t that bad, I’ll be here until about 11:30 and then will be done until tomorrow night. It could be worse. 🙏🏻
