Our little rider, Tessa, broke through her comfort level as she went from riding indoors to riding Cayden outside, and was so excited and proud of herself as she said, “THIS IS THE BEST BARN EVER” and “Mom, did you get a picture to send to Daddy?” I guess we found our forever home 💕💗💕

🌟 Reflecting on yesterday's success has made me realize that there's someone incredibly special who deserves a huge shout-out. None of this would have been possible without Mary Howes Banker, the founder of Emily Eckstrom Equine Foundation, who graciously opened her facility to us back in 2015.

Mary has been with us every step of the way, supporting Destiny's Ride through thick and thin. Her unwavering generosity and willingness to lend a hand whenever we've needed it have been nothing short of remarkable. From helping with sick horses to ensuring we have priority access to the indoor arena for our therapeutic lessons, Mary goes above and beyond.

I can't express enough gratitude to Mary for her extraordinary support, especially in preparing for our very first Open House. Alongside Kelsey and Woody, she worked tirelessly to make sure everything was perfect. Jane and I are deeply thankful to Mary for her integral role in our journey with Destiny's Ride.

A little Friday fun as we started off with a few early morning lessons then getting ready for our open house tomorrow 10-300 Rain or shine.. Our volunteers came to get the tent up, and the horses thought watching us clean thier pasture was fun as they stood around the tractor as we worked 😂😂😂. Oh, and the new little barn kitty Two who likes to use my backpack as her place to take a nap and watch everybody as they come into the tack room… 😂😂

Come join us for a day of fun and therapeutic lessons! We will be showcasing lesson demonstrations on the half of every hour, and one lucky attendee will be chosen to ride one of our amazing ponies!

I think this is something that everyone needs to read and think about.. 🩷🩷

Let’s repeat it for the ones in the back - or front, depends how you see it:

We can train and manage and condition our horses - but we can’t change the fact that they are horses.

Horses are prey animals. Their whole existence is wrapped around the ever on going play in nature between prey and predator.
Their whole being has evolved around the behavior and skills they need to play this game.

They played this game more than 50 million years.
The 5000 years of domestication won’t change that soon.

Your horse is supposed to spook from noise and sight.
Your horse is supposed to bolt when it feels threatened.
Your horse is supposed to buck off what’s on his back.
Your horse is supposed to search for food.
Your horse is supposed to be buddy sour.

All what we call „vices“ is simply a surviving mechanism, implanted deeply into the DNA of every horse.

Your horse lives in a human world, where he has no handbook for in his genes. He is just being a horse.

It’s your task to show him trust, patience, calmness, strength, assertiveness and fairness. But you have to be like this yourself.

You cannot expect what you are not ready to give.

It’s your responsibility to help your horse navigate.

Acts of aggression, confining him, calling him names, defining him as „naughty“, does not teach or proof any horse to behave the right way. It only shows your capability of teaching a horse.

There are so many techniques, methods, tools and trainers all defining „bad behavior“ and their solutions, all hustling and managing around a horse to bend and press it into a form. All of them, that claim to be so knowledgeable, so experienced, so wise, have forgotten, that the horse is just a horse.

This little peanut Started almost 2 years ago and we had to get her this special little western saddle and she needed a vest so that we could hold onto her while we build up her core strength. Today, she is riding independently, able to turn her horse all on her own, and set up nice and tall. I LOVE these moments

I completed my 2nd Horse Powered Reading simulation - Thank you Tara for letting me use her.. She did amazing & Memphis decided to act as a barrier to her reading - cone and all 😂😂😂

Last night with the help of this little girl I did my 1st simulation requirement to become certified in Horse Powered Reading. For being completely unsure of what I was doing her and Cayden made it look so easy.. Lots to learn and lots of skills I need to enhance within myself. Thank you Tara she did amazing ☺️💜🥰

This is something to always remember - I hear many riders blaming the horse rather then looking within themselves as the potential communication barrier.. Taking a step back and taking a deep breath is sometimes the best thing we can do for ourselves and our horses 🐴 💗
