What a manual session looks like without the use of cupping or scraping. Targeted massage, movement, stretches then finish up with some good ol’ education about how to maintain those effects while still getting your training in 👍🏼 No avoiding exercises here only modifications

My not so hot hot take today is you don’t need to be doing super complicated super long warm ups before training.

Warm ups are important for getting your joints and muscles warm for training but don’t need to be a workout before your workout.

And I’m not talking about running through some quick mobility or band drills. I’m talking about copious amounts of warm ups, stretches, rolling and drills that take upwards of 30+ minutes to complete.

Focus on the most important things with efficiency. If you’re doing barbell movements do a few sets with an empty barbell and a then a warmup activity between your very light sets to prime you for your top movements.

But also do whatever you want I’m not your mom ✌🏼

This is one thing that has helped me over the past few weeks with working on my own mobility limitations.

The last thing I want to do at the end of the day is a super structured 3 sets of 10 mobility routine (hence why I never give rep schemes with my warm up Wednesdays).

If I sit on the floor while watching TV at night I can guarantee that I will start stretching in some way.

I can’t even say I do anything super special or specific, I just do what feels right. Hips feeling tight? Let’s do that. Back super stiff? That’s what I’m going to work on.

Don’t know what to do? Try one of my warm up Wednesday routines.

Some type of movement outside your resting positions is all you need👍🏼

This morning I got to work with before he heads off to compete at USPA Drug Tested North American Championships in Alabama this weekend. We’ve been working on some general hip stiffness as well as hamstring tightness. Enjoy the time lapse of one of our sessions!

Don’t get me wrong support braces and support belts have their time and place for managing symptoms.
But if that’s your ONLY form of treatment for dealing with your injury long term talk to your physical therapist.
Make an appointment so they can find what is causing the problem and develop a treatment plan to resolve the issue.
If you feel this applies to you DM me and we can set up a FREE consultation

It’s ok to talk to a few PTs to find the right one. It’s ok to change PTs because their treatment style isn’t the right fit for you.

It’s not ok to write off an entire profession based on one poor experience or interaction. Just because you got one bad haircut doesn’t mean all hair stylists or barbers are terrible and don’t know what their doing. It just means that you got a bad haircut.

So just because the last time you went to PT and you didn’t see the results or treatment style you wanted doesn’t mean the entire profession isn’t worth it. Do some research and find someone who’s the best fit for you and your goals!

The amount of times I’ve heard this from patients makes me sad.

Never is a very final word. Yes, you may not be able to perform the exact way same as pre-injury but you should be able to return to something similar down the road because our bodies and determination will always find a way.

If you’re currently dealing with an injury or have been avoiding something out of fear please reach out in DM or in person and we can talk about how you can achieve your goals.
