Mid week reminder that you got this and it is never too late to start!
I haven’t posted in a long time, but I thought I’d share my own training work so that others can relate. I was in an ATV accident 14 weeks ago which resulted in 10 broken ribs, 1 broken clavicle, and slight punctures in my lungs. 14 weeks I have been resting, using alternative healing methods, and healing. I did not start exercises until about 10 weeks post, so that I could give my displaced bones proper time to rebuild before creating more “stress” for the body. I have a long way to go, but I am happy to be back at it!
I cannot say this enough…GIVE YOUR BODY TIME! The top thing people can do is REST and it is the one thing people skip over. NSAIDS and ice prolong healing and make more work for the cells. Proper nutrition, breath work, meditation, avoidance of toxins, and a gradual return are key factors.

Happy Monday!
I just wanted to share some of my favorite go-to books for helping/healing the body naturally.
Herbs, oils, certain foods, breath work, meditation, exercise, grounding work, and massage are just few things I use regularly to keep my body happy and healthy. I am not saying that Western medicine is never an answer, but I prefer to try these remedies first since they generally have none or very few side effects.

I just love this! We are halfway through January and if you are someone struggling to keep up with your New Years Resolution, you are not alone.
If you think spiritually, the new year really starts around the Spring Equinox, when Mother Nature herself is awaking from her winter slumber. THIS is the perfect time to make your resolutions (if you want to). This year, it will occur March 20th. Just because the Roman calendar states that we are in the new year, does not mean you have make big changes; when in reality, nature is slumbering right now.

It’s that time of year…no, not autumn….back to school! And we all know that means kids bringing home germs and getting sick. I made a batch of elderberry syrup earlier than usual to help my friends/family combat the illnesses. Definitely look up benefits and recipes for yourself!
Ingredients:
Elderberry-antioxidant
Honey-antiseptic
Nettle-(optional) antihistamine
Cinnamon-antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-fungal
Cloves-analgesic, expectorant, stimulant, carminative
Ginger-anti-emetic, antispasmodic, carminative

Monday Night Magic!
Last year I started making my own products. When you start reading labels you realize how many unnecessary chemicals there are in food, health and skincare products, and basically everything. While it does take up my time, I feel like it is definitely worth it!
This week I made my hair oil, body butter, elderberry syrup, and fire cider (recipe from Mountain Rose Herbs) The hair oil contains rosemary to stimulate growth. The elderberry is packed full of antioxidants to keep me healthy. And the fire cider packs a punch when feeling like you’re getting sick at all. Definitely look them up if you haven’t heard of them before.

As your Jan is well under way, you might be struggling with your health resolutions. But everyone has to start somewhere. Slow and steady gets results. Don’t try to go crazy with your work outs or diets knowing that it’ll be too much to start with. Little changes over time add up.
Last month I did something for the first time ever. I ended 2023 doing my first half marathon with my best friend. Rehoboth was an awesome course running on the boardwalk and nature trails. I finished 5 minutes slower then I wanted to. And by mile 12 my body really started to protest. But, for only training for 1 month and not ever going past 10 miles I am happy with the results. This is your reminder to keep going. You got this. 👍🏼💪🏼

This was a work weekend for me but I still made time for myself.
1: Self Care Sunday provided by Lisa Nichols. Cupping and trigger point therapy to release tension and congested areas from repetitive daily motions. If anyone needs a massage in the Parkesburg area, she’s your girl!
