Continuing with , meet our colleague, Angela! She recently returned to the team at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King and has taken on a newly created social worker position at Moses Hall. She had previously worked at the Home from 2006-2012.

“I feel like I’ve returned ‘home’, in that I remember many faces from when I worked here prior,” she says. “I never could have imagined the warm, welcoming back I would be getting from those I worked with over 14 years ago - thank you, everyone, as it really means a lot to me!”

Even with nearly 24 years’ experience as a nursing home social worker, Angela realizes that starting a new position takes time and she is so appreciative of all the help that the Veterans Home staff has given her. She also wants to thank her members for their patience during this transition period. “I am very honored to work with the veterans of our country and their family members. The Veterans Home is just so unique as a nursing home in what it offers its members,” says Angela.

Angela and her husband Chuck reside in New London, WI and have two children - daughter Mira is a freshman at UW-Milwaukee, and son Ethan, lives nearby with his wife Kyria and their son Kane. “We take every opportunity to pop by and visit them, as we love spending time with our grandson Kane, who just turned 2 years old.”

When not working at the Home, Angela and her family love the outdoors, and when the nice weather returns, you will likely see them on the river in a canoe.

Thank you, Angela, for all your efforts in support of our Veterans Home at King!

As part of , meet Lacey Kvatek, who has been a social worker at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King since August 2020. Initially starting in MacArthur Hall, Lacey then transitioned over to Ainsworth Hall, where she currently works on the second-floor unit.

Lacey’s favorite part of working at King is hearing all the individual life stories the members share. "Whether it be their military service, family life, or just their favorite memories, it is an honor to be able to hear their stories," she says.

Originally from Plover, Wisconsin, Lacey, her husband and 1.5-year-old daughter live in Wisconsin Rapids. Later this spring their family will be adding a baby boy! Congratulations!

Lacey enjoys going on adventures with her family -- from concerts or Broadway performances with her 16 year old sister to rock hounding and glassing along the shores of the great lakes with her mom.

Thank you, Lacey, for all your efforts in support of the Home’s members.

Continuing with , meet Nicole Bodenheimer! She has been doing social work at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King since 1998. Nicole started as an intern while earning her bachelor’s degree in social work from UW Oshkosh.

Inspired by her grandparents, Donald, a World War II Airforce combat veteran, and Florence, an American legion auxiliary member who volunteered at the King Home for 20 plus years, working at the home with veterans became her passion and lifelong career.

Nicole has worked on various units throughout the campus over the years, but primarily is based in Ainsworth Hall. Her daily mission is to advocate for veterans and their families, ensuring they are receiving the care they deserve, their comfort is maintained, their quality of life is enhanced, and their dignity is preserved.

Nicole, her husband Tom, their children Hudson and Maggie (who both are currently in college), and the family’s basset hound named Ralphie reside in the Waupaca area. When not working, Nicole loves to golf with friends and to go up north to her cabin in Winter, WI, and enjoy the outdoors.

Thank you, Nicole, for all your efforts in support of our Home’s members.
